I'll concede that. But he has only lost to Hall of fame fighters so I give him a lot of credit.

As others have mentioned, Loma is a good fighter but the level of hype was over the top. I think some folks are just easily swayed by speed and "flash". For instance, some swore up and down Broner was destined to be the next Floyd just because there was some flashiness to his offense and he did a half assed shoulder roll. Obviously Loma is better but you get the point.

I also think he benefited from defeating a few guys who themselves received over the top praise. Walters was being hyped up as this bad ass with an ax when his claim to fame was beating a couple of aging and blown up flyweights in Donaire and Darchinyan. Rigo had no business moving up to Super Featherweight at that stage in his career yet it was hyped as a fight for the ages. And Linares received a lot of hype for his offensive skillset when he's always been the poor man's Khan.

Loma isn't a backfoot defensive wizard like Floyd. He likes to come forward and use his angles. Lopez backed him up and Loma felt that power.
Loma can't fight off the back foot and he can't switch from defense to offense. He's a great offensive fighter but the man would have gotten killed by Morales and Barrera.

Loma is the only dude in BOXING who gets professional credit for a amateur career...I mean they actually ride his amateur career as if he's still rumbling 3 rounds with headgear on SMH

Growing up watching Pacquiao, Floyd, Roy Jones Jr, etc I've seen greatness. Never saw it in Loma. I saw a good fighter and nothing more.

He's lost to an over the hill Salido and a 23 year old Teofimo in his first ever title defense. Great fighters and "once in a generation" fighters don't lose to that level of competition. People were predicting he'd school Teo like Floyd schooled Canelo.

Teo has nowhere near the experience Canelo had when he fought Floyd and Floyd was older than Loma is now when he fought Canelo. All that amateur experience and WBS experience and pro experience and he got beat by a 23 year old making his first title defense.

But what I don't understand is that most of you have seen greatness in your lifetime. How were you fooled into thinking Lomachenko was on the level of a Floyd, Pacquiao, De La Hoya, Roy Jones Jr?
Hahaahaha! Floyd NEVER fought anyone as good as Lopez!

Definitely not in his 15th rpo-fight.

                MAIDANA beat Floyd. Maidana!

                Pacquiao was KO'd by Marguez.

Lopez deserves credit for tonight. But loma threw away the early rounds. Point blank. Not at bad strategy, but he held onto it too long.

FLoyd and Manny at that weight would've rolled over to Lomachenko.

I wasn’t fooled but there’s too many trolls in boxing and too many fanboys who are emotionally attached to fighters whether cuz of racial bias or drinking the coolaid!

Loma’s ring IQ was off tonight, he should’ve seen how when he stepped to Lopez how Lopez would try to line up the same shot or counter for Loma everytime an just bait it out and pressure Lopez!

Ironically enough Lopez said Loma can’t fight backwards but neither can Teofimo lol

Wlad was a scared bum getting knocked out by the likes of Ross Purity when there was good Heavyweights. Wlad ruled over one of the weakest class of Heavyweights ever. He still got smacked up by Brewster and Sanders too . Jab, clinch, lay on, repeat, and have home cooked ref allow. A boring era for sure. Cokehead fat boy Fury beat him easy .

Duran lost to DeJesus, and needed a nut shot to stop Buchanan. He was also TOASTED by Hearns. Sub him out for Lopez to night, and Lomachenko would be instantly declared one of the greatest ever.

Even the best fighters lose. This was a narrow loss to a HUGE and extremely dangerous dude.... who, most importantly, proved not to be as dumb as he so con****uously seemed. Tarver KO'd Jones. Turpin beat Robinson. Frazier battered Ali. Sometimes the better man.... isn't.

In Loma's case, it was: 1) Close; 2) due to a strategic error. It;s not the end of the story, and it doesn't undue what has already been accomplished.
