Well deserved win for Baker, and some valuable experience for Speare. Taking the fight on late notice was a gamble that didn’t pay off but he’s just got to learn from this. Full credit to Baker though always comes prepared and gives his all.

He was too eager to impress IMO. Was loading up and missing wildly.

Baker is actually very tough fight for somebody who hasn’t boxed for a while and only has five fights.

If I was a promoter watching it, I wouldn’t put a prospect in with Baker after five fights unless it was some very talented amateur who’d only had a few pro fights

Yeah I agree. Baker is a fighter who could probably win an English title if he had some backing. He’s always in the away corner and usually has to fight above his natural weight.

Ward doing his Malignaggi schtick as usual, can't see him getting past any of the belt holders as it stands...

Essomba won this fight. It shows the difference between padding your record and tough matchmaking.

Essomba is a small bantamweight too. Ward belongs nowhere near world level. He should target the European title first.

Thought Ward lost. Not the best decision.
