Would Wilder have developed more had he taken “better” matchups?

Wilder's team trained him for power only. He was getting badly outboxed by Spzillka and others before he KOd them.

He never trained to box properly. He never learned any boxing fundamentals lol. Watch the Antonio Tarver interview after Wilder got whooped by Fury. He summed it up best

Wilder is a hw and in great shape he can realistically fight for another 6-8 years he just needs someone to develop the left hand for him and the power never leaves he can still be a champion for years to come.

Wilder had/has the physical tools to become a reasonable boxer, but like others have said, he fell in love with that right hand.

If he'd learned better skills he might have become an average boxer.

Instead they took an extreme strength, focused on it, and took him to a 5 year title reign.

I don't think you can knock the way he was brought along. Very deliberate, very calculated, not at all credible, but that's the game. Whoever was driving that career did a phenomenal job.

This right here.... I think he got stubborn and over confident. Let's not forget he actually won boxing rounds vs Stiverne

I saw that.... It was good to see someone keep it a buck on Wilder

He would never be a world champ than. remember his scary moments fighting Scorniers.

I guess he is doing OK despite a big loss to Fury. He had two huge Fury fights at least.

I like Wilder but he should’ve manned up and stretched Dillian Whyte out since then we wouldn’t be in this mess to begin with.
