Canelo won't be back in the ring anytime soon. This seems like it's getting dragged out.

The case against DAZN is questionable and they have the money and the will to fight. In court, Goldenboy is certainly more vulnerable but even that is not open and shut.

What is open and shut is that Canelo will get older and remain inactive.

im not reading that. it appears to me canelo is arguing that both cases should be tried by one judge/one court, federal judge anderson who is already overseeing the gbp case.

shrewd move by canelo’s team. they originally filed in federal but didn’t have the needed info. now they do and somehow got dazn to request a return to federal.

Buying out Mikey and Ward's contract were comparatively clear cut and cheap. Both fighters knew that they could do significantly better else where and make up for a buy out.

In Canelo's case it's not clear where he can go even if he wins. DAZN has the majority of the name fighters at 160-168. The PBC can offer Charlo and maybe a few high risk low reward fights but that's it. At 175 the top guys are murder row. In the end, there is nothing out there that can come close to the amount Canelo is currently making with DAZN.

With such a short shelf life this game of chess is detrimental to everyone but the attorneys.

I dislike Oscar but the facts are that he promoted and matched Canelo into a super star then secured the highest contract in history.

Well atm just focusing on time out of the ring, like literally the months out and comparing to how Mikey and Ward performed afterwards

So will Canelo still fight Yildrim for pennies to stay active or is he not allowed to fight at all even if it is not on DAZN/GBP? I doubt this is about money and it is more about Canelo getting free from being under 2 companies thumbs. Canelo has enough money. But his career has been handled and controlled almost the entire time.

In the end the fans end up losing. Again.

To me Mikey was never the same. I think he saw all that missed time and all the inactivity as a major blow to his legacy and he instead started to go for the big money fights. Mikey has never been the same fighter after his legal battles. His career path is all over the place and is more focused on securing big paydays versus giving a quality performance.
