I've been saying ever since they first invented the 'franchise' bullchit that it effectively relegated the WBC world title to being meaningless across as many divisions as the 'franchise' dude operates in.
At least it promotes and allows unification fights that are rightfully owed to lineal champions like Loma.

It doesn't oblige the the other sanctioning orgs to do any more than the would have done for the WBC World Title. If the WBC wants their titlists unifying then why not just let 'em unify rather than creating a brand new title? Furthermore by removing any mandatory requirement they basically got rid of the main reason for considering any title legitimate anyway.
the wbc see how ridiculous, confusing and inept the wba have become and must be jealous of the attention they get and are trying to outdothem
soon nobody will have any clue who or what a champion is, in fact they can label anyone at anytime a champion, move them up or down on their makieup scale & make them fight the person their promoter doesn't want to fight if they displease them

I'm indifferent on the situation as long as unifications happen.
I don't care what a sanctioning body calls it, we know Loma is the real champ anyways.

Well yeah, I'm a big Lomachenko fan, but it doesn't make this ****** fuckery by the WBC any more acceptable as a boxing fan. If anything confusing the public by having 2 WBC 'Champions' probably even dilutes his accomplishments.
I don't blame Lomachenko (or Canelo) for accepting this dubious bullchit... it's 100% to their advantage (or that of their promoters) of course, but it's the duty of a sanctioning org to try to bring some kind of order and legitimacy to the chaos of prizefighting. At least that's what they tell us. Shovelling more shit onto the pile is doing nothing good for the sport.

Well, for accuracy, I don't trust any of the sanctioning bodies equally. But, the WBC is trying to do the right thing the wrong way.
There should be one title period but I do understand the issue for today's boxing model. You just cannot pay fighters fairly enough to fight as often as they used to in order to not tie up a title for several months at a time in the best case scenario. That doesn't even include things like injuries, pandemics, venue changes, etc, etc. that can potentially tie up one title for over a year at a time.
What I'm getting at is there is some good in all the bad, to a degree.
if by handed to Loma you mean he won it in the ring sure now Haney got handed his fake belt
Exactly. Too many RE-TARDS here. Haney was given an interim title and lomo was made franchise champ. Lomo was always the main wbc champ. The WBC is ****** with all their belt titles but lomo never vacated.
