yeah and why? cause he was fighting the commey-lopez winner next. this was settled before haney became mandatory so im not sure why people are ignoring context. what fight is better? the fight against hte #1 guy or the fight against a guy with no resume or top 10 wins at all? sure he could have paid him step aside money or some crap like that but this way he doesnt have to and he can get a shot whenever he wants! also loma said he will fight if any big offers come in otherwise he's waiting for the commey-lopez winner. hmmm no big offers from dazn how weird! but haney wanted the fight right? sure. 100 million offer to wilder and no offer at all to loma. its pretty clear haney was bluffing since he knew loma was already booked up. here it is:

1. called out loma when he was already booked
2. never made an offer with dazn's huge pocketbook
3. continues to fight bums and shot fighters

loma fought campbell and won the title before that so not sure what you are talking about there. after loma won and before haney was even mando he said im waiting for the commey-lopez winner unless i get any big offers. he didnt get any big offers(haney and dazn went silent weird) so he made the fight with lopez after loepz beat commey in december.

so where exactly was loma supposed to fight haney? before he was mandatory? that would have looked strange cause haney was a nobody. haney instead of campbell? that would have looked strange because campbell was higher ranked by everyone. after campbell instead of the comey-lopez winner? that would be a worse fight but sure why not, and he even said if i get any big offers ill take a look otherwise im fighting commey-lopez, no big offers came from haney or any offers at all in fact so here we are with loma fighting the #1 guy and haney fighting a completely shot guy coming off a ko loss and major injury and you know what i think haney is just fine with that. all this is distraction anyway, we should be saying why is haney fighting a shot gamboa but instead people took the haney bait and are trying to say loma ducked haney. cept he didnt. he fought better fighters than haney every time out. haney could have tried to fight anyone in the division but he chose alfredo santaigo and shot gamboa.

ShoulderRoll you are wrong here. Devin held the interim belt, then at the WBC convention they elevated Loma to Franchise and bumped Haney to WBC lightweight champ. Matter of fact Haney was kinda upset bc he said he wanted to fight for it. After Loma dismantles Lopez, then Haney vs Loma will be next if possible.

I think, to my knowledge; and I could be wrong, professional boxing is the only sport on Earth where the clear best don't have to fight each other for a World Championship title. Lomachenko is the very best LW fighter right now and he earned all of his titles and earned The Ring title. He earned the distinction by beating top 10 contenders like Russell Jr, Linares, Sosa, Pedraza, Rigondeaux (2 weight classes below but still an okay win), etc.

Haney on the other hand, won a fight via email to win the WBC LW title. That is an absolute travesty. Haney is by far the most undeserving champion of the last 10 years. The worst way to win a title, he owns that title, the WBC titleholder: "Worst Boxing Champion". The Email Champion of the world.

Just imagine if the NBA championship was between the Brooklyn Nets and the Utah Jazz, all standings still being the same as you see them now, because that's who the NBA decided to rank as #1 and #2 for the Championship title. This is boxing. This is how boxing operates. Sanctioning bodies like to rank random ass fighters in their top 15, with 3 or 4 name fighters sprinkled around there. So then you get cheap vacant title fights where everyone knows who's going to win because their opponent is some unknown boxer with no experience at the top level.

This is why I only look at The Ring and Transnational Boxing Rankings Board. I don't always agree with all of their rankings, but they get it right on who are among the best 9 times out of 10.

So basically: WBC franchise champion in a way is like the WBA Super Champion.....and WBC Champion is the regular WBA Champion only difference WBC Champion can unify And WBA regular cannot unify and Franchise is not transferable unless opponents request for it..ok

You left out the fact that Haney was supposed to fight Campbell for the vacant title, but Loma (who wasn't ranked by the WBC) petitioned to leap frog him and take the title shot. Devin was left to fight for the Interim title and to become the mando. He was supposed to get his shot next. Loma then petitioned for the Franchise title thus denying Devin his shot at the title which is why he was elevated. Loma has essentially taken 2 opportunities away from Haney that alone is reason enough to say Haney at minimum should get the winner.

Im almost sure there was supposed to be kind of tournament for Loma vs Luke winner, Devin vs Lopez i think?
