What makes Loma vs Lopez a special fight

I believe that these two are the most athletically gifted fighters in the world. Besides the skill level, these two fighters’ athletic abilities are fascinating. This fight has explosiveness written all over it. They have attributes that other fighters can’t train for, they have to be born with this type of athleticism.

They both have speed and power, but each different to their advantages.

Loma has the footwork and foot speed to his advantage, and this is the most important quality that a fighter can have. Lopez on the other hand, has explosive power. His power can possibly carry him to 154 pounds.

If Loma gets thru this fight, Lopez’ power can be a benchmark to help him decide if he can move up another weight class. What Lopez lacks in the skills department compared to Loma, he makes up the gap with his explosiveness.

Based on resume, Loma is the more secure choice, but I’m strongly sold on Teo’s power. I think that the biggest question is, how will Loma react when he gets caught with a shot from Lopez because Loma will get touched. If Loma takes it well, he could walk out with a decision.

I think this fight will be fight of the decade. These two are evenly matched. I don’t think Loma has God-like skills. He was a grown man in the olympics, but the 2 Gold Medals are still a decent accomplishment. At Teo’s age, Loma was still an amateur. For Teo’s age, his resume is really impressive, even without the Commey win. Teo’s resume is better than the rest of the young talent. His resume is better than Ryan Garcia’s, Devin Haney’s, and Shakur Stevenson. I think Loma and Teo are evenly matched when dissecting their qualities, but if you base it on experience, Loma has the edge.

It's going to be an awesome bout that I can't see a lot of non willingness to engage. Teo knows he has to bring the fight to Loma. I don't think it will be fight of the decade at all but it's going to be a heck of a good matchup at a high level that we haven't seen recently.

It's one of those matchups that people actually wanted to see and called for it rather than promoters just throwing together two guys who end up producing a good fight but nobody actually called for the matchup...

Lopez is just a solid fighter at the weight who hits hard 'His athletic abilities are not rare'.

Neither fighter in my opinion is great in terms of athletic ability, they are good 'But are they on the level of Prince Naseem Hamed, Roy Jones Junior, Amir Khan or even Floyd Mayweather? These were fighters with rare athletic attributes'.

Damn right Loma has the edge and it is a very large edge. He is a solid 4 to 1 betting favorite so if Lopez wins it is a pretty big upset. Lopez is much too small for 154 and gets slaughtered if he goes there. All boxers are athletes and all skilled boxers are very athletic. You cannot be a skilled boxer and not be athletic.

Why should anyone give a fuc how supposedly athletic a boxer is unless it helps him fight better. In boxing how well you can fight is all that matter and any other type of athletic ability that does not help their fighting ability does not mean a damn thing in the ring. Doing back flips won't make a guy a better fighter. Mayweather was a great fighter but what were his other athletic achievements than make him any more athletic than other great boxers like Loma. If he was excellent at any other sport besides boxing it's news to me.

freshly minted 23 year olds with 15-16 fights are rarely in a fight with a 32 year old top 3 p4p fighters(who have been on that perch for years now)....thats why you see the gap in odds...

what do you think odds would look like if you put canelo in with munguia...or crawford in with ennis or ortiz jr?

its a much closer matchup when truly looking at it....oddsmakers are wrong every day...alot...not saying loma might not whitewash lopez...certainly a very possible outcome

lopez is def too small for 154...as loma will never fight a top guy north of 135 either....despite the talk i think both guys know what theyre getting into and have a ton of respect for each others abilities here

I think I'm missing something because I just don't see this fight that intriguing. This will be a very routine win for Lomachenko. I think that Lopez should be applauded for his boldness, and it's a lot better than seeing Lomachenko face some washed up guy. But the kid doesn't have the experience, pedigree, or a fighting chance to make this close. Had Lopez beaten guys like Haney or Ryan Garcia, I would at least find him a formidable opponent.
