And the issue is that fight would not sell a whole lot in America, I guess they have to fathom the PPV prices into the equation. We pay £20 here and they get mugged off at 70 dollars.
So even if they sell 100k in America they would need to see a projection of 400k upwards for it to make sense as a U.K. PPV based fight.Comment

That is some BS and you are fooled by Hearn! The main event fight will be at 5-30 am, it is always later. ALSO, british people don't HAVE to get up that early. They can get up at 7-30 and watch a replay on the same channel! Nobody will spam you newsfeeds about boxing at 7 am. You just wake up and go watch it as if it is happening now.Comment

And no, that's not how I watch boxing. Or any sport for that matter. I get up and watch live. If I wanted to watch a replay then I certainly wouldn't be paying for it.
Not sure I understand the problem here anyway. No-one is saying a fight is crap, it's just Eddie understanding what will sell to casuals and what won't.
And he's dead right. And, yes, there's a big market in the UK for Dillian Whyte. Why does that surprise people? In the US you get hundreds of millions tuning in to watch sports no-one else in the world cares about. It's just local interest in local sport.Comment

He is trying too hard lol, apparently you are a “Casual” if you can’t stay up late at 4am to watch a fight, if you cannot do that then you need to buy it, record it and watch it later.... That’s what qualifies you are a boxing fan.
I don’t blame him though, when you have British posters like another one in this thread chatting BS about what is meant to be a marquee fight or not.
When the discussion is about timing. These idiots act like jilted girls, trying to take shots at sky sports and Hearn, am not even claiming that they don’t deserve taking shots at.
But when it comes to reading and taking in articles then read and take it in.
A Loma/Lopez fight at 10pm UK time on PPV like Arum wants would sell 4 times than if it happens at 4am UK time.
And BT sports are associated with Arum through Fury, so why don’t they pick it up? These network aren’t in it to lose money... Just like showtime refused to pick up Wilder/Ortiz 2.
Another aspect of it is the American fans not caring about UK fights at all.
Some of you over there are true fans.Comment

I really don't know how you guys stay up so late for fights over here. The UK fights usually start 10 or 11 in the morning my time, even that is not convenient to do when you have things to do, or wanna sleep in. I usually skip them.

For example, am not a big fan of the Davis/Cruz fight. I have made my feelings clear about that, but does that mean I wouldn’t watch it over here at 4/5am when it comes on? No I would still watch it live.
The issue is if PBC sells it to BT sport or Sky sport as a PPV fight, non of them would pick it up. It’s not because they don’t think it would be a great fight, it’s the timing of everything.
A boxing fan might stay up, but they need to reach audiences that goes beyond a boxing fan, they need casuals to buy those fights, and no casual fan would stay up to pay for a fight that doesn’t involve a marquee british name.
Joshua v Ruiz is one of the lowest PPV sales for Joshua in the U.K. because it happened at 4-5am. Even I fell asleep trying to keep up, the only reason I was able to get through that fight was because Joshua was getting destroyed.
So to see sooo many ignorant posters in this thread, telling us how to sleep and wake up or set alarms etc is just laughable.Comment

I'm obviously too poor to be a boxing fan as I don't have more money than sense.Comment
