  • Comments Thread For: Arum On Loma-Lopez: I Don't Believe In Rematch Clauses; Overused By Hearn

Whoever wins when Vasiliy Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez fight won't owe the loser a rematch. Lopez revealed last month that there isn't a rematch clause in the contracts for their highly anticipated, 12-round lightweight title unification fight October 17 at MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas (ESPN). Rematch clauses aren't uncommon demands for established, favored champions that take on optional opponents, in this case Lomachenko.

    Hahahahaha!!!

Even at the tender age of 88, Arum holds no punches!

I couldn't stand Arum (2010-2014) because of the Floyd/Manny situation but he always gave us fights (good, in-house or indifferent) and made other promoters work harder.

Look at the Pandemic....Arum didn't slow down one bit and continued to give us boxing matches, regardless of what was going on. I can't be mad at this guy forever because he moves the needle. How much has Eddie done since the Pandemic?

I haven't had DAZN since February and I'm not complaining. It's overpriced with recycled content and a good fight lies somewhere in the middle of that boxing app madness.

You would think that the suppose P4P #1. unified champion would have a rematch-clause in every fight.

Teofimo's team did their job and got the bag in negotiations due to Lomachenko's massive ego and Egis Klimas ******ity, which underestimated the 15-0 barely of his teens champion. As a result, after Lopez KO's Bumochenko without provisions, Vasily wont even get 20% of the purse in a potential rematch.

What good is Vasily without his hype and 'French-Fries' title? But you know, Bob Arum is pretty good at getting Bumochenko undeserved opportunities after losses, so I guess I should not doubt Bob Arum, he already saved Vasily's career once, lets see him do it again.

Glad to hear this. Often times a a rerun of a schitty fight that nobody wants to see.
For the other poster bashing Loma and Egis, chill out, take a Xanax or sumthin

I know he's old and all that, but has Bobby forgot about the rematch clause Crawford had against Khan? No need for Loma to have one anyway, he'll box little Fimo's ears off (only for the haters to say "Lopez has only had 15 fights, it wasn't a good win") then onto the next.

Arum says all this, while sitting on a rematch for Nandrolone Fury and Twerking Wilder haha. Also, for hik to be mad at anybody else for doing PPVs is just laughable. ESPN has put together a few fights but boxing on a whole is looking shaky especially with boxers refusing to take pay cuts. Say what you want about Hearn, but he is forging ahead and adapting with the times. Meanwhile the Nandrolone Fury against Twerking Wilder fight won't happen until next summer at the earliest

Wheather Bob uses it or not we all know Eddie Hearn can't stop it .And it's very wrong from whoever .Why should a fighter have to win twice just so the promoter can cash in at least twice and the 'winner' is then unable to move on except for A REMATCH, one of the biggest con's in boxing!!!
