The reality is that right now Broner needs to earn those "bigger fights" he craves and a win over Prograis would put him in line for one.

    Thanks.
He’s got nothing to lose anymore excepts for his marketable name that he might use to cashout. He needs a credible win and Prograis fits the bill if he truly believes he can beat the guy.

If he do this and beats Prograis, not only does he gain credibility, but he gains more marketability of his own cause it makes people believe he’s still capable of winning.

Being on the winning column is a huge factor

I'm sure AB thinks he can win, most fighters do. Hell, maybe a fight with Reigis will land him another big fight on DAZN (if he chooses).

In the same breath, I don't feel Broner really needs to "earn" big fights because of his name. It's a good thing and a bad thing and I believe this is where people expect him to be in one big fight after another.

The standards have gone low for Broner already. He doesn’t have anything left that could impress people, except for his chin and his ability to survive. But of course, alot would still tune in for his next fight. He’s a character and he’s got a big mouth with a name. Respect is already gone but he’ll regain some of it if he beats someone like Prograis.

If you really think he beats Prograis, he should take it. I don’t see alot of credible opponents that Broner could beat nowadays
I agree that people will still tune in to his fights because of who he is and that's all that's needed to stage a big fight.

AB got paid nicely in the Pacquiao fight and took some time off, as most fighters do after they land a big fight with the top 1-3 guys in the division.

Most are writing him off but those critics always tune in. At some point, we have to put some of the blame on consumers.

Broner can pretty much make a fight with anybody. His name isn't hurting for another name on the bill to make money.

That’s something what I hate about. Whenever these guys gets a payday against guys like Pacquiao and Mayweather, they stop doing their thing and most likely retire. They’re on the roll with a payday, they should follow up and get more. They gain experience and exposure in a big stage, then they stop? What a wasted opportunity thrown in the trash bin. I honestly think he and Thurman could have made a PPV fight, had they done it later that year. All they had to do was to use Pac’s name and compare performances. Both had 400Ks and 500Ks PPV exposure in their last outing. I wouldn't have been surprised if they get at least half of those sales and imagine them splitting them up

Excellent point and you make some great points!

This happens A LOT! Way too often if you ask me. I think it leaves an even worse taste in boxing fans' mouth when a guy talks so much crap to get the fight, then stink up the joint and disappear for a year or two.

            Sad.

It's like you can feel the fighter's frustrations and true feelings about the business after they've landed a big payday. Some guys just really need a break and others take our money and get ghost.

And you're right....why not a Thurman/Broner fight after they both lost to Manny in the same year? Keith is bigger than Broner but by how much? Not much, but I could be wrong.

I wanna hear more about this from your end! I know I'm leaving some parts out. Lol

Yes, I agree, a win over Prograis would be a good look for Broner.

But he needs to actually do it.

His "name" isn't that great ATM; certainly not enough for promoters to pay him the $10million he thinks he's worth!
                Thanks.

Yeah I like this fight a lot but AB looks really heavy with a big stomach right now, not sure he gets back to 140 anytime soon
