  • Comments Thread For: Prograis: Adrien Broner's Just A Clown; I Think I'll Be First Person To Stop Him

A full title unification bout between Jose Ramirez and Josh Taylor is the most meaningful fight that can currently be made within the 140-pound division. Regis Prograis, who lost a 12-round majority decision to Taylor 11 months ago, still feels as though he and Adrien Broner would make "the biggest fight" in the junior welterweight division. New Orleans' Prograis and Cincinnati's Broner have talked trash to one another for a few years, but Prograis would love to settle it in the ring.

Boy you ain't about to stop ****.........if josh taylor whooped your ass you definitely won't be "stopping" adrien broner.....you might win a boring decision. Regis is just not as good as people once thought.

Manny didn’t stop Broner so I’m guessing Prograis won’t either. Seriously doubt it would be a boring decision though. Prograis throws hands and mixes things up.

What are you talking about? Taylor is worlds above “About Bail” in boxing ability. When the best fight the best in their weight class KOs rarely happen. The problem is About Bull s h ! T e is officially a Journeyman gatekeeper and nothing more. I’d expect Regis to KO him.

Broner doesn't even defend himself anymore. If Prograis don't stop broner, he is going to beat him up real bad.

            I agree. He’s really not.

To be fair Manny has not been stopping much for over a decade. Lucas is the exception.

True. Broner is a tough guy though. Maidana put a beating on him and he didn’t get stopped. And he was really hurt then. His pride may not be enough to get him a victory but I think it’s enough to prevent him from getting stopped. I would like to see this fight. I was once a huge AB fan and I think Regis is a great fighter right now. This would be interesting and I hope it leads to bigger things for Prograis.

Prograis is a bit arrogant but he is talented, "mater of fact blunt " and very, very smart. Broner makes crazy comments and he's loud but he too is talented, smart and a great marketer.

I would love to see the fight but Broner's insistence on $10 million is like Thurman's $10 million dollar demand...just ten million reasons why the fight won't happen.

Fighters see others making 10's of millions and they believe they have the star power to demand the same. The unfortunate truth is that they self promote and their promotional team does NOT have the skill or more importantly a contract with a network. The fighters have no leverage, they end up competing for limited spots on a network that can choose from a vast pool of fighters with the same manager because that is who the network is signed with. Get it? The network makes out, the manager does fine and the fighter is sold the possibilities of a PPV model that always turns out to be a theoretical pipe dream. Expensive PPV's simply don't pan out.

In the end, Adrian will press for guarantees and they'll likely, in some form, need to come from Regis. If the fight comes off Prograis will be forced to take a financial hit and the financial gain is the only reason Prograis left his original promoter. IMHO, the hardest part will be making the fight.

In there lay the problem.....the money may not be as good as the fight.
