If no draw at least, Dervy was robbed.

I saw him win 7-5. Could see 6-6 too. If someone gave Charlo 7 rounds I don't care. I've watched a lot of fights/boxing. I feel like I know what close competitive fights look like. This one looked like one and scored like one.Comment

I'll say it as often as it needs to be said....you won't find many people who share your views outside of NSB.Comment

I stand by that.
But I'm just humoring the argument of the punch counters...landing an extra 2 power punches per round isn't that significant of a difference. Especially if you are throwing and missing a whole lot more just to get those 2 extra punches in.Comment

I haven't really looked online. I didn't watch the fight live and as you said, most people I saw, both on here and on twitter, were saying Charlo was either comfortably ahead, or it was a close fight with Charlo edging it.
I watched it right after it ended and I didn't see a domination. I saw a really close fight. I saw Dervy win some clear rounds. 1 6 10 11 and 12, I mean came away saying 'OK clear enough round for Dervy.' Just how I saw it.
And in passing on here I've seen some other guys who have no clear agenda to me, who more or less agree. They certainly don't seem hateful with their posts about the fight. Just 'I had Dervy winning 7-5 on my card; or I had the fight 6-6.' No real animosity and no real over-explanation.
As I said, I just don't really know what some people were scoring/watching in that fight. I think it was maybe a case of wagging the dog, where the narrative was building that Charlo was banking rounds so people just kept giving them to him if they were fairly close? Idk. But even then I feel like Dervy had some clear rounds.Comment

Idk man I think at the end of the day it's all about who lands more, and also better too obviously, with those punches. I'm not scoring misses, I'm scoring what lands. Even then what lands can be subjective as can how effective certain punches are. But generally most guys punch about as hard as each other per punch landed so it is always a big edge to outland your opponent, especially by wide margins.
2 more punches per round isn't much. It then comes down to who landed better, which is unfortunately TOO subjective imo. People still try and spin what they see for 'their guy' all too often. Just human nature I guess.Comment

Clean punching
Effective Agressiveness
Defense
Ring Generalship
Nothing about number of punches landed, or about whose face got more marked up, or any of the other alternative ways that posters here like to use to judge fights.Comment

Somehow I don't think a guy with a 'North America runs boxing' tagline is one to be lecturing about bias in scoring fights...all that matters anyway is what lands and what impact those punches have. Everything else is fluff that helps you to land or not land punches. Don't overcomplicate it, it's simple. But some like to overcomplicate I suppose - it helps to twist the stats around to suit their guy when needed.Again, at the end of the day it's about:

I gave you the criteria used for judging fights.
