I've thought about this, and I think it all boils down to the underdog syndrome. People love to root for the little man- the one who seems to be overlooked, or not getting his due. It's why you always have someone cheering for the unassuming nobody. I think that is what this swirl of fandom over Antonio Margarito is- people latching onto the underdog who they feel is being denied his shot. Fans have convinced themselves that the tough, hard brawling fighter has worked his way to the top against elite opposition and is now being denied his chance to become the top dog by beating the top dog.

They hate Floyd because he's the "Pretty Boy" and not a rough brawler like Antonio, and he is the top player. Many boxing fans seem to want a brawler at number one....and Antonio is the underdog they are choosing to get behind- hating Floyd almost by default.

Floyd could have fought Baldomir before Judah, but he chose to fight Judah. Now when most everyone wants to see him fight Margarito, he's fighting Baldomir.

It's not hate. It's simply boxing fans wanting to see the supposed "P4P best" in against his toughest opposition, someone with the greatest chance of upseting him. That's not Baldomir or Spinks. That's Margarito.

You're confusing "hate" with fans wanting to see the best, most competitive matchups.

Those same people who wanted him to fight Judah (because lack of focus against Baldomier) are the same people who want him to fight margarito. Dude Charlie don't think right, his logical sense aint logical. Maussa got a gift belt from Harris who simply punched himself out by trying to get KO, otherwise Maussa would have lost and was losing. Collazo aint no Zab judah, maybe a poor man's Zab, but his skills are nowhere near Judah's nor are his accomplishments, Kostya might be only name recently to outweigh Mitchell, But that is the only real significant win Hatton has. So in actuality Floyd last 3 fights are better than Hattons. Gatti was that guy and some 3 yrs later hatton was still trying to fight him.

I dont understand boxing fans these days when people are happy about a lesser fight being made.Do any of you really honestly think that Baldi is a harder fight than Marg?Yall give Marg abunch of **** because of the Santos fight but cheer a fight made with a guy with 9 losses 6 draws.I just wanted to see the best fight that could be made right now because im a boxing fan and i wanted to see the 2 best welters fight.Some of yall are like teenage girls with a crush on a pop star instead of boxing fans hoping to see your fav fighter prove himself against the best thats there.Ive been a big ssm fan for along time and when he stepped up and made a fight with Wright wich was a high risk low reward fight at the time because Wright wasnt a big name yet and i knew it would go bad but i was happy to have that fight because im a boxing fan and i want the best fights even if it puts my fav fighters at risk.If Marg takes a easy fight instead of one of the good welters out there ill call him a ***** just like floyd because i wanna see some good fights.
