Does Mayweather VS Paul help or hurt boxing?

Some believe that there is no such thing as bad publicity. Others believe there is.

    What’s your take?

I don't think it helps or hurts. Might bring some new casual eyes to the sport. It will be an exhibition I hope. It's better than having your #1 star not fighting and in a contract dispute. It's better than your supposed #1 P4P fighter Terrence Crawford fighting faded former champs and bums. It's better than a Charlo $75 PPV. Sheeit fight though. Wish Floyd just trained and promoted. A rematch against fishnets would be better.

I’d rather have the perceived “greatest fighter of this generation” not fight against some random with a losing record. In what world does that help boxing? I’d be surprised if even 2,000 Paul fans are still subscribed to DAZN. They went for one month or stole it. This sort of garbage isn’t keeping anyone around.

Why even call it boxing? It’s a joke and drops Mayweather out of any top 25 ATG discussion. He should be ashamed of himself.

It probably does both but it helps more than hurts.

Anyone who thinks this fight or Floyd v Conor hurt the sport needs to realize that DAZN is desperately trying to make a canelo/masvidal fight because the money the networks make from these kinds of events gives them resources to put on the fights and cards that we as fans want and demand. So in that sense it helps.

For traditionalists, Floyd fighting Paul is a sideshow that doesn’t move the sport as a whole forward like say a Floyd v Crawford or Spence fight would because you’d have the old king losing to a potential future king. In that respect you could argue it hurts the sport.

I can’t see any way this helps boxing.

Unless they completely jam pack the undercard with great competitive fights, which of course...they won’t.

I hope the fight gets made. Just more proof that gheyweather is and has been a joke for the last 10 or so years.

                  Good or bad for who?

For us, hardcore fans, it's probably mostly bad for most cuz mfers hate talking or seeing so much talk about garbage fights when the most compelling fights barely get mainstream discussion or worse yet we don't even get to see the best possible fights be made to begin with.

For Floyd & Logan it's a nice W cuz they will both make $ & Logan will probably make more money for this than anything else he's ever been involved with.

For KSI it's a slap in the face cuz he fooking beat Logan & he should be the one catching this crazy opportunity.

For casual fans & Youtubers it'll be something to talk about & be excited about for months. For Youtubers it'll be a goldmine of content & therefore income.

For boxing it's ultimately good cuz it's putting eyes on the sport & ultimately boxing is the only sport that has this sorta circus structure where a retired legend & a social media star CAN compete in the first place on the biggest stage with the brightest lights on them. Brett Favre & Justin Bieber can't compete in the NFL. But this looney tunes fight CAN happen in boxing cuz boxing makes no fooking sense other than to sell the most tickets. And this fight will generate a lot of revenue if this news is legit.

Mayweather using the same tactics after his career that he used during his career yet some people are surprised.

                    This is who Mayweather is.
