Klitschko, hands down. He fought whomever dared to get in the ring with him. He lost his long standing title to Fury and tried valiantly to win it back from AJ, when he was clearly past his prime. Ward tied up his best years suing his dying promoter, got a couple of "wins" over Kovalev, then bailed before he could get his ass handed to him by the other top dogs in the LHW division.
Greater fighter: Andre Ward or Wladimir Klitschko

Neither one of them were all that impressive to me. We can say that Wlad at least pushed his career to the very end of his prime, while Ward still had a lot left in the tank and chose to retire rather than face stiffer competition at 175. Both were boring fighters, clinched too much, and typically had some sort of advantage over an opponent in terms of size or weight. Ward got a gift in the first Kovalev fight, and should have been DQ'd in the Kessler and Kovalev rematch. As a P4P boxer, Ward is the better of the two in terms of skill, but that isn't saying much. Glad they are both retired.Comment

ward beating the dominant titlist Kessler was something he did when green and in his stride.
Klitschko has also beaten a few titlists like ward, but not the dominant ones ever.
of course its not an exaggeration, I was being generous to wlad.Comment

Andre Ward was more talented, but Wladimir Kiltschko has achieved the more historically 'Kiltschko was the last great heavyweight champion whether people liked him or not' etc.Comment
