I never think that way. I don't see it as the USA vs the UK. Boxing is not a team sport. It is a sport of individuals. I am an American. I might be rooting for a UK boxer to beat an American if I liked the UK boxer more than the American. I know I rooted for Lewis to beat Tyson because I liked Lewis and did not like Tyson.

If you watch interviews of fighters opinions they almost always say they root for THEIR country man so it is definitely a rivalry among the fighters unless a special circumstance like a friendship like Wilder and Lewis which is why you see a lot of slander from Lewis against AJ .

Beyond that the casual fan will almost always root for whoever is from their country with exceptions like a Fury vs Wilder where they rooted for Fury and not many outside the LDBC circles have actually taking a liking to Wilder I can tell you just from my own family who don’t even follow boxing anymore who don’t care for him ,he really rubs people the wrong way . He has a very weird fan base all around ,even discussing boxing with guys who support him tells me they don’t really grasp boxing very well

I’m from the U.S but I’m a serious fan I don’t care who’s from where but you’ll never catch me rooting for a Wilder ,no way since all the circus things after 2018 but if I think he wins a fight I don’t lie about it or fabricate things like the majority on here .

It is hard to say who will be the best after 5-6 fights in pro. Price was unbeaten as well.

Boxing ain't that popular in the US anymore, particularly HW division.

Big guys will try their hands in American Football or Basketball. Some of those that cannot make it there would opt for boxing late in life and will make up the next generation of American HW boxers. That looks like the fate of US boxing unless an exception comes along.
