I like Mikey, and want to see more of him in the ring, but I have kind of written him off career-wise now. He is basically retired. His real career ended.

I don't blame him for wanting to chase big money. Good luck to him. I just don't find the idea to be exciting as a fan.

Mikey Garcia still pushing for Manny Pacquiao fight

Mikey Garcia about a prospective fight against Manny Pacquiao:

“We don’t know yet. We were talking, you know, to Team Pacquiao earlier in the year, before my fight with Jesse, and, you know, they were excited to possibly get a fight with me. But this whole COVID situation came down on everybody and it really slowed down things. So we don’t know if that’s still gonna be the plan for Manny. I mean, he’s got a lot of options too.

Yeah, I think he knows him! LMAO!

It's as if you guys want/ expect fighters to fight Loma, Lopez, move up fight Taylor, Ramirez, move up fight DannyG, Porter, Pac, and Spence, and if they don't, YOU GIVE THEM NO CREDIT! This discussion is ridiculous. Fighters fight all who they do for various reasons, money, mandatories, preference, etc. Not one fighter in the game can appease you with your mentality
Actually he left his promoter so that he could control his career and choose who he fights. Since then he has been treating his career as a roller coaster going up and down weight classes. I do not fault Mikey for chasing after the money especially since he probably feels like he is owed a lot more from his previous contract with his promoter. I thought Mikey had a promising career and some great potential but he needs to establish himself as a clear cut top 5 of a division before moving up or down. If he fights and beats all the B level competition but never faces the A level and moves in and out of the division, how can you honestly consider him A level?

For the record, he does not really fight his mandatories because as soon as he has a belt he leaves the division.

He does not seem dedicated to me and that is what made me start losing interest in him. He does not dedicate himself to a division, he does not dedicate himself to being a champion. I feel like his career ended when he had that promoter/contract fiasco. He is content with fighting B level guys in each division until he lands the big money fight.

Mikey will get that fight. That fight makes full sense for past prime Pacquiao.

Moving in and out of a division doesn't mean anything. It's the names on your resume that matter. And Mikey is moving along fine. Now I will admit, if he were to fight a Pac and retire, sure, I can understand your point. But I just think he still has fights left in him and he's building his resume still. Not like 10 fights left. But let's say he beats pac, and Danny G beats Spence. Those two winners may face next. That's a winnable fight.

So L vs Spence, W vs Vargas, W vs Pac, W vs Danny, then say Crawford (definite loss for Mikey there). That's not a bad way to end a career push. I'm not saying it will happen. But fighters gotta fight for it all to play out. This is boxing. Who knows. I also doubt this would play out. But it's not so far fetched that it's impossible

The names on Mikye's resume are not that great. What is the point in fighting for a belt only to relinquish it and move out of the division then come back to the same division and fight for another belt and repeat the cycle?

Mikey has slim to none chance of beating any of the potential names you listed. Against Spence he looked a bit fat and did not look to be in a comfortable weight. He was a lot slower too. Maybe now that he has had time to acclimate to the weight he will do better but Manny is no slouch even at this age, Manny is relentless and Mikey has never been pressured as much as what Manny would give him. Danny Garcia is naturally bigger and stronger than Mikey and I see them being very similar just different weight classes.

When you do not commit to something and spread yourself thin, your value and worth ends up doing the same.

This isn't a bad post. I agree with a lot in it. Mikey obviously looked horrible against spence. But I don't rule him out against "this version" of Pacquiao. Mikey is a timing puncher. And look what Marquez did to Pac with a lil timing. DannyG is a fighter that I view the way most of you view Mikey..... I just see so many losses waiting to happen. He never looks good. The only thing that he has is a UGLY left hook that lands because fighters are used to fighting elite skill. And DannyGs hook gets thrown from an angle so far off, it looks like how females look when they throw a baseball! I'm not saying this happens, but Mikey CAN time an old fighter. And Mikey CAN outbox a fighter that isn't a high skilled boxer. Those are both "winnable" fights. Doing it is another story.

Also I'm not saying Mikey resume is otherworldly. But to have a Spence, Broner, Easter, Vargas, Salido, and add in a Pac and a Danny G, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that resume. It turns elite with those last two. It's solid without them. And my whole point, is that Mikey isn't done yet obviously.
