He prefers to move to a division grab a title them move out of it before he can defend. Mikey sure has had a weird career. He had great potential too but I see him as only going for big money fights which he has all the right in the world to do. It just does not always equal entertaining for the fans.Strange career Mikey has had...all that time on the Top Rank shelf sapped some of his prime, and prevented him from big fights and big paydays that should have been fought against the best in his natural weight class. Now he's trying to play financial catch-up against bigger guys that he has slight chance of beating. (I think Manny still has enough to punish Mikey) I guess he could always wait for this young crop of lightweight blue-chippers to move to 140, but that could be a couple years away yet. Talk about a man without a division...Comment

The dumbest comment I've read in my life. Please tell me when Mikey "ran" from Loma. He has a huge fan base, as someone else mentioned. Despite what you idiots WANT to think, Mikey left 135 forever ago. And when he did, Loma was at 130Comment

You sure about that?
Manny had bigger fights at one time BUT he chose to fight the likes of Broner, Mathysse, Brandon Rios, Vargas, Horn etc.
Mikey would be the perfect resume padding opponent for Manny. He got his ass handed to him in his second last fight.
Rios, Mosley, Margarito, Mathysse, Broner were all coming off losses. And yeah, I get it some of them “redeemed” themselves with wins over nondescript guys.Comment

Manny did exactly the same thing. He fought once at 135 against David Diaz and at 140 against Hatton and a dubious belt at 154 on a catchweight deal with Margarito who had been destroyed by Mosley less than a year priorComment

If he has a huge fan base he by were his numbers so low on showtime?Comment

Lomachenko was the one who said he wouldn't fight Mikey in his first fight back after surgery.
Mikey wasn't going to wait on him so he moved up for the big money PPV opportunity against Spence.Comment

Because that's when he was just starting to gain popularity. Also, define "so low". I was in the stadium in Texas for the 47k fans. What fighters at 140 and below (which is where Mikey was at while he was last seen on showtime) that do MASSIVE numbers? Maybe 1 or 2 fighters. I'm not saying he's a global icon or anything. But relative to the sport, and weight, Mikey put butts in the seats.Comment

I also don't know where you guys get this "not always entertaining for the fans" stuff at. I think if there's no KO, there's nothing that compares to a knockdown. To me, it's the most important entertainment available in a fight without a stoppage. It creates a shockwave that makes you stop your conversation and focus on what just played out! Mikey dropped Vargas, Easter, Lipinets, Dejan. He only failed to get a knockdown at least, against broner and Spence (who mopped the floor with him). I'm not sure what else you guys want for entertainment value. He prefers to move to a division grab a title them move out of it before he can defend. Mikey sure has had a weird career.
