Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua: Ruiz Loss "Highlighted Everything I'd Been Concerned About"

Anthony Joshua suffered the heavyweight shocker of the century when Andy Ruiz knocked him out last June. Joshua (23-1, 21 KOs) immediately saved face and regained his WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO titles in December during a rematch with Ruiz. The 30-year-old reflected on his whirlwind 2019 and admitted there were plenty of learnings to take away from his first professional defeat, saying that some of the flaws he showcased furthered the sentiments that were previously shared before the portly Ruiz knocked him out.

I do think AJ should have went for the kill in the rematch he did what he had to do in order to win. The safe route could've been the best one at the time.

I don’t blame him I don’t care what Joshua says his confidence was shot having been knocked out 6 months previously by the same man he was facing. Another loss and that’s the end of his lucrative career probably. Fighting that type of fight will give him confidence moving forward and personally I never thought he had the stamina to fight that type of fight even though Ruiz with his added weight had the slowest legs in the game so he did make Aj’s night easier

I agree with you, but he's gonna need a different plan for Tyson Fury! He's not going to "outbox" The Gypsy King!

No way he would have lost. Ruiz could take his best shots. Ruiz is unique in that he could take AJ's best shots and come back with his own. AJ did exactly the right thing in that fight

AJ can't do that every fight though. He needs to go through people when he needs to. If he can't do that and starts to box and move all the time - he is lost

Don’t know what they’re serving in England but they’re breeding a whole bunch of delusional fighters....He’s right about one thing his lose to Ruiz did highlight something...just how fragile his psyche and his jaw is

Fury will be one of Joshuas easiest fights . The bookies are going to make a killing with everyone thinking Fury will out box AJ and maintain center ring control, won’t happen . You guys are getting duped hard in here by simple talking ,it’s called brain washing . Ha

I make a lot of money from betting on boxing and I'm putting £10,000 On Fury to beat Joshua. Absolutely certain he will. I never bet on either Wilder fight, but have no problem laying down big money vs Joshua.
