If one thing’s consistent on here it’s posters don’t get it’s called prize fighting . Whyte gave Povetkin the best payday available ,two fights is a no brainer . The rematch will be huge win or lose it’s a win / win situation for Povetkin.

Most have answered the question, both fighters agreed to it contractually so it is what it is. Povetkin will fight anyone and in a recent interview said, if people want to watch us fight 10 more times, let's do it.

Pov doesn't think it's unfair and seems happy to still be involved in some big fights at this stage of his career.

Povetkin is having the second best run of his entire career 'In terms of high profile fights and maximizing prizes' 3-4 really good performances by him at this stage of his career.

If he beats Whyte again? I can see him fighting Chisora or Usyk 'Hearn will promote the Usyk fight in Russia if it happens'.

Povetkin gets the WBC title fight if he wins ,he won’t fight anyone and will sit on that knowing it’s his last big fight at least if he’s smart . The only way he doesn’t is if AJ and Fury have signed to fight first ,but going near Usyk isn’t in his plans .

Big fight, legend status type of fight in Russia.

But yes it makes sense that he will sit and wait for title shot.

Povetkin`s route: Whyte again; if he loses, go to America, rematch Hunter or fight Ortiz -Ruiz loser ( that fight will probably happen after tune -ups); if he beats Whyte he will wait for WBC title shot.

I think he does. He was winning very easily and seemed to be almost a sure thing to win by KO very soon. He won every round and scored two good knockdowns before he was knocked out.

Whyte was winning pretty soundly before the KO and the rematch clause was in the contract. So, those things considered, does this seem like a pointless thread to anyone else?

They signed a contract in which both agreed a rematch clause.

Therefore, of course he deserves a rematch. The fight probably would’ve never happened without that clause.
