How much did he make for the wilder fight?
he got the same amount. haymon the idiot just matched the offer for some reason. i really have no idea why as no one wanted that fight and it flopped. he could have gotten someone else to pay his fighter but instead he decided to drain his own funds to make a ****** fight.

The Ruiz/Arreola fight should be entertaining. Yeah, Arreola is no longer relevant but he looked much better in his fight against Kownacki. Ruiz is coming off more than a loss. He's coming off a Buster Douglas-style loss where he needs to recover on many levels mentally (and physically).

The Ortiz fight I don't get. Time isn't on his side and he needs relevant fights fast. His most notable wins are still an old Tony Thompson and Bryant Jennings (who is best known for giving Klitschko some competitive rounds). Other than that he's known for his two losses to Wilder where he won some rounds and got KO'd brilliantly (same accomplishment as Washington or Spilzka). Disappointing.

but kownacki sucks? didnt we just see how crappy he is.=?

ortiz's entire career was used to prop up wilder. i wouldnt be surprised if they matched him soft on purpose so his skills would degrade. they never wanted him to fight anyone else like whyte and said he wasnt ready...then fought on the same day.

Cuz he woulda made even more in the rematch had he beaten him - which he had a good shot at doing.

Also I don’t recall him getting the same against wilder. If I remember correctly he got less

Kownacki is limited. There's a good chance he would have lost to Martin had that been a 12 round fight or had Martin realized he could compete earlier. He was stopped by a guy in Helenius who was stopped by a guy who Kownacki obliterated. All of these guys are somewhere on the same level and can lose to each other based on matchup and on any given night. My guess is Arreola is a notch (or several) below this level at this juncture depending on how motivated he is. That's about what Ruiz needs right now since he's attempting a total rebuild.

As for Ortiz, I think you are probably right. I think he's skilled but very flawed (and old). He can box and has some pop but he gasses out and his chin is open for business. A guy like Wilder will KO him nearly every time if it's more than a 6 or 8 round fight.

After the first loss to Wilder, it became more valuable to Haymon not to expose Ortiz to possible defeat because it would discredit Wilder's best victory.

For the record, I say all of this and I'm not really a fan of Wilder, AJ or Fury (nor do I dislike any of them either). My own personal opinion is that between the 3, certain matchups favor certain fighters. Fury has an advantage over Wilder, AJ would be more dangerous to Fury than Wilder and I think Wilder more dangerous to AJ than he is to Fury. But what do I know, I'm just a boxing fan!

Haymon has to match any offer when he tells fighters not to take fights or tries to do damage control. He never wanted Ortiz vs AJ because Ortiz is the only reason Wilder is relevant and why he’s putting him in with guys like his next opponent so he looks like an actual boogeyman in the event Wilder gets any belt back .
