Most trash talk before a big fight is just part of the promotion. I’m sure there are some real beefs but for the most part it’s just gamesmanship.
When you get to the top of the sport you know how it is to get there and respect the work your opponent put in as well.
Plus once you beat a guy you want to build him up so you’re resume looks better.
For example many Floyd fans want Canelo to continue to win as it makes their guys win over him look better and better.

Paul Vaden and Terry Norris didn't hug either lol.

Vaden allegedly ****** Norris wife sometime before the fight.

It’s a mutual understanding that they are selling the fight 99% of the time

I disagree. And so does Jim Cornette.

It’s precisely what’s been mentioned already. 85-90% is hyped. Or tho there are some circumstances that don’t applied where there is pure anger & hatred. But still that is minimal.
You have to be part of the sport of boxing to understand. This is no theatrical Hollywood type of bull*****. Personally I always respected my opponent afterwards win or lose, for that combatant prepared just like I did & he deserves to be respected. Don’t get me wrong, there are some opponents that don’t deserve being respected but they are few & rare.

But why is this when they have a history of dislike and hatred towards each other?
its called respect especially if its a close fight. They are doing something that requires all of their skill and determination and the other guy as answering back with the same.

For that split second, they don't hate each other. They love each other.
