  • Why do fighters that hate each other hug after the fight is over?

In a lot of pre fights, there are fighters that clearly don't like one another, but it seems that whenever it goes to a decision, they always hug each other and say good fight.

But why is this when they have a history of dislike and hatred towards each other?

Because at the end of the day it is a sport and most fighters understand that, you win and lose with grace.

The physical exertion coupled with the respect gained during however many rounds you share cant really be explained. There is an emotional response that cant be explained, but I would describe it as a combination of joy (or disappointment if you lose), relief, and exhaustion. I only had a few fights and didnt know the people I was fighting, but i think the above still applies. Once the bell rings, there are very few fighters who carry anger into the fight, as you go into concentration mode, and even less who carry anger after a fight.

Because fighting is the ultimate form of conflict resolution. The dislike is all about getting into the mindset of inflicting pain and doing damage to your opponent during the fight. Once the fight is over there's no need to have that mindset anymore.

Aside from that, it's hard to still be angry after going 12 rounds.
