He didn't look great against Korobov and Derevyanchenko is on a higher level than Korobov. This guy is the real deal, even at 35. He deserved the win against Golovkin but like it or not, the more well known fighter gets the nod in a relatively close fight 9 times out of 10.
Note, this is coming from a Golovkin fan who had him winning the first fight against Canelo and either a draw or 6-5 and 1 even for Golovkin in the rematch.

Well said and I agree! Jermall has to stay focused and keep his eyes wide open because like you've said Derevyanchenko is no joke. Moreover I had him defeating Golovkin too.

I don't think Jermall is any better than Jacobs. Either way should be an amazing fight, can't wait.

I don't think he really went into a dark place with GGG. He took GGG to a dark place where he was getting hit with the bigger shots more regularly and they were having affect. Golovkin was older and more past his prime when that fight took place. There was a flash KD in the first round but by the middle of the fight, GGG was struggling to keep pace with Derevyanchenko.

When I say "dark place", I don't just mean in terms of taking punishment. I'm talking about how Derevyanchenko fought like a man possessed. He did take GGG to a dark place, but it looked like he emptied his tank to do it and I just wonder if he has another effort like that in him. I can't wait to find out.

A couple of years ago I would've said the same thing but the aging GGG is showing clear signs of slowing down. I think they are much closer now.
