The skinny 15 year old always had huge calf muscles. These would inevitably be perfect for leaping, planting, and speed power to carry upper weight. He also had to grow into his man body to gain KO resistance.
Second, it’s PAC’s arms. Short and stocky torso, Popeye arms... one thing that benefits speed on the Heavybag with combinations is having short arms. Less time for recoil as one arm follow ups to the next. The longer your arms, and thin, the less consecutive power to hit MEAN combos on the Heavybag.
The reason why all this is relevant is because of the sheer pouncing power you’ll get when your opponent is holding his guard.
Pacquiao had the PERFECT physique of this generation at 126-147. It’s just too bad we couldn’t see early 2010 Pac against guys like Spence or Porter. Not saying he would win for sure, but I’m sure they’d respect his power.
Honorable mentions go to Loma, Canelo, GRJ. Canelo is basically a LHW torso with short malnutrition’s legs (referring to height). Canelo has always had combination power that is very hard to mimic in gyms. A lot of that is because he’s stocky and his legs weight enables him to plant unprecedented power. Loma, just has T-Rex arms, and it’s amazing to see him work with he has. Loma also has, as many Euro, huge back muscles. GRJ is like Loma too, but smaller. Last goes to Fury and Andy Ruiz. People are just haters. You don’t see MLB fans making fun of Babe Ruth compared to contemporary physiques. Ruth’s physique back in the day was awkward...
These are all awkward physiques. Tyson Fury as well, he just had fun with the physique that works for him. Ruiz Jr. And Fury remind me of Maradona or the fat Brazilian Ronaldo. These guys could just carry their weight naturally. Maradona to me always looked like a midget from Willow.
Carry on.
