Is Being Called Dancer An Insult

    What do you think

Salty fighters who couldn’t hit a moving target will say his opponent is a running dancer

Mr Ali The Greatest proudly declared himself to be a dancer-boxer

SRR is compared to a ballerina for how gracefully he’d glide around the ring

Mayweather’s movements made killers miss so bad that they look silly

Not at all, huge compliment. Fighters used to get called "cute" when they had smooth skills.

I dont recall what fight it was on fox here recently but they were using the cute term to describe the guy.

You are right. Ring generalship has become a lost criteria when it comes to judging fights; Especially if you are the challenger.

Times have change. In the 1970s, 80s and 90s most judges favored boxers irregardless of challenger or champion. However, since the turn of the 21st century; There has been a seismic shift.

Nowadays, most judges favor the aggressive fighter and not necessarily the effective aggressor fighter. Just the fighter who comes forward throwing large volumes of punches without landing them.

Dancing is ok. But imo you need to go into fight hoping a stoppage comes.
By being as offensive as you can be otherwise your bordering trying to survive to get to end of the round. If your overly cautious and defensive. Guys who have been buzzed or hurt can be forgiven but it's harder to forgive a fighter who isn't hurt but fights like he is.
When Ali and srr and Pac hit you, they hoped the accumulative effect would force ref to stop fight.

Floyds more along line of showman, circus act. Like Herol bomber Graham used to tie hands behind back and ask kids to try hit him in the gym

In the many years I have been following boxing I have never heard of a boxer calling another boxer a dancer. I have often heard of a boxer calling another boxer a runner and it is indeed meant as an insult. Boxing is supposed to be fighting, not running away. Canelo called Lara a runner and he was right. Lara stopped running to land punches but he mostly ran away and stunk up the fight. Broner has become a runner and a clincher and a terrible boxer to watch.

                Dancer is fine.

                Twerker is not.

                  great point.

Can’t remember the last time a boxing commentator complimented a fighter movement

Ufc has more brawling but they still said McGregor movement is beautiful

I’m a Lara fan but he’s too much with the movement

                  Sometimes gave fights away

Paulie who loves pure boxers even admitted Lara ran at times in the Alvarez fight

Sometimes it is, if that’s literally all you do in a fight. Hughie’s performance against Parker for instance.
