This new era of boxing is strange to me, now a days it's all about collecting as many belts as possible to call yourself a 2 or 3 division champ, yet a lot of fighters who do it never have been a unified champ or even fought any serious competition. Crawford checks the box for unfied champ(undisputed actually), but at the end of the day people don't call Ali the greatest because he was a multiple time champ, they call him the greatest because he beat guys like Frazier, Foreman, Norton, Shavers, and Spinks.
Boxing has always been about who you beat not how many weight divisions you were a champion in. Julius Indongo was a unified champ, aint NOBODY with sense about to fix their lips and say he is some great fighter.
Crawford’s best win still might be Postol. Josh Taylor beat Postol after about a dozen fights.
That’s not a knock on Crawford, I’m
A fan and think he’s excellent but He simply hasn’t fought in big fight against big names, whether that’s his fault or not is another matter.
Not to mention he’s already coming up 33.
Then you have to remember Floyd was also excellent at selling himself and playing the villain if he needed ,to and did it very well, like in the Oscar fight. Being a great fighter isn’t enough, you need a strong image and persona.
