Right. I think Junior should retire for sure. He’s ended up getting much more than he deserved, which we all expected. I remember a trip to Mexico back when Junior and Canelo were both coming up. Every local I talked boxing with said they were all about Chavez JR. My Dad had the same experience. Junior had the best sideburns in boxing. People hoped for the best but I think we all expected the worst. He wouldn’t show up to the gym and just push the couch back and shadow box in his undies all while somehow holding a bowl of cereal. I saw him live once on his way up. I was fan of seeing what would happen with him and his circus novelty, but a true fighter he never was.

Hes definitely a slacker. I remember when he fought sergio on the same night as ginger and still did good ppv numbers. As much as i dislike jr i loathe canelo even more. Canelo wouldn't be where he is if not for jrs lack of dedication

I thought Margarito was just going to run right over Mosley. I also thought Barrera was going to whip Pac in the first match. Both ended up being one sided ass whippings the other way....

Which reminds me...I thought the Prince was having his coming out party vs Barrera. It was in fact the end.

My family was on top of Canelos career pretty early. At one point I thought he was really hoof footed and needed to step back and reset after every combo. But he’s really improved. I still don’t think he’s the type of fighter to ever throw 80 punches in a round but he might never need to. I don’t think he’s that likeable guy or a great personality, but at least he’s all about boxing. He’s a bit of a villain. But he took Krusher ( overrated fighter imo ) out in a blink and got the strike against Golovkin. I keep saying it, he’s the Pope and he’s the guy all of boxing trickles down from. My brother has always said his first fight after age 30 he will lose. I know he hates Oscar, but at least Oscar fought everyone and making fights with Oscar wasent this hard. Canelo is the guy that sings all day and everyone around him is afraid to say he can’t sing. At least he can fight. His counters look pretty and sting, stop fighters from really risking a lot against him. I’d love to see him in really tough.

As far as Kovalev, early I couldn’t really see from studying him what made him so “great” as commentators claimed. I think he deserved the win vs Ward in the first fight though.
Top Rank promoted Oscar and got him the big fights, but Oscar resented them too, just like Canelo resents GBP. I’m sure they both think they could beat each other in their primes. The worlds not big enough for them to get along. I know Canelo gets his stroke, heck a judge gave him a draw vs Floyd. Got the Lara fight. I was surprised he was behind on the cards vs Kovalev actually. It was close but I assumed he’d be well ahead being who he is. But if u fight someone that earns everyone their highest pay checks u have to expect he will get any bias. It’s not fair but it’s boxing. GGG saw that beating Nelo close is only worth a draw and a draw is worth a loss. I would have loved to have seen nelo vs beterbiev.

I thought both were washed up but that Roy was even more so after suffering the brutal knockouts he did. I'm not afraid to admit that I got it wrong which is the point of the thread.

Up until the weigh in, I thought Ruiz was going to prove that the 1st Joshua fight wasn’t a fluke. After Ruiz came in looking like the Michelin man, I realized he was ****ed lmao.

I thought Whyte was going to beat Povetkin by Unanimous decision. That’s it. Though I will say that during the fight I changed my prediction to whyte by KO. Oh how wrong was I.

Yeah all it takes is one punch, and no one could predict that Ruiz would show up out of shape for the fight of his life
