Comments Thread For: Whyte on Povetkin Rematch: I've Never Been This Excited For a Fight in My Life

Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte is eager to get back in the ring with Alexander Povetkin in the fall. This past Saturday night at Matchroom's Fight Camp in Brentwood, Povetkin pulled off a sensational knockout victory when he landed an uppercut that knocked Whyte out cold in the fifth round.

When you get great match ups like this they are almost always nail biters ,the rematch won’t be as unpredictable now we know Povetkin could put Whytes lights out With one shot causing a black out but Whyte had little trouble putting POV on the deck with grazing shots . Can’t see
It going 12 ,I would figure the guy with simple adjustments wins next time so I’d stay with Whyte in a rematch ,should be a good one

The fast turnaround will play into the hands of Povetkin 'But it is still a 50/50 fight'.

I am wondering where it will be staged?

Another fight outside the backyard of Whytes promoters house... Hardly impartial. Commentary were salivating at every tiny move from Whyte, ignoring work that Povetkin done. Hope he gets smashed again, that SkySports commentary team should be ashamed this isn't your local football team call the fight without your rose tinted glasses.... This is why UFC do a better job on commentary.

Povetkin follows the ways of the ancestors through the ancient religion of Rodnovery. He believes he derives his power from the g-d of thunder, and he derives his inner courage from Svarog the g-d of celestial fire. Hard to beat a man with beliefs like that, especially when you are fat, come into fights 270+, cant take a shot, and don’t have a long amateur background. 41 year old povetkin to do his ancestors and his g-ds honour again

Well yes, I put the volume on mute. It was a competitive fight, it was no one sided beating etc

Again, most of you on here are idiots. Whyte is facing top 10 guys consistently and rematching right away, yet you idiots are condemning him for it? Meanwhile Fury has fought a string of nobodies since coming back, and you idiots praise him for it? Just like you praised Wilder for fighting 5 years of bums?

Needs to focus on keeping the range long. I don't think he's got time to get grips with all the technicalities of dealing with Povetkin up close. Whyte's got some long levers but needs to use his feet better too and get more mobile. Povetkin is heavily dependent on that close to mid range to land his bombs. Still think Povetkin has every chance in the rematch.
