Man, Joe Smith is hard to rate

Totally limited fighter who should never get this far but does. Has like 4 wins on his record I never thought he'd have but he's just super powerful. Massive overachiever. That Alvarez win still so unexpected to me...

I don't really try and rate him, I'll forever remember him as that guy who knocked brother Hompkins out the ring and on his head.

I'm glad he proved me wrong.

Had Alvarez outboxing him in twelve.

Eleider blocked everything with his face...it was hard to watch when I saw the highlights.

Also he has never been knocked out before

I thought it would be an easy UD for Alvarez, I always pick against Smith. Picked Hart and Hopkins both to beat him. The only time I actually picked him to win was against Barrera.

I thought Alvarez looked pretty good, it was just a bad style matchup for him. Joe Smith gave him the Brandon Rios treatment and just abused him until he was worn down. Kovalev gave him a lot more room to breathe and set up his shots, and he was still behind on the cards when the caught Kovalev in the first fight.

I knew Barrera would beat him. Been a sharp decline for Berrera after that though. All the rest yeah, I picked against him, too.

Limited contender who achieved much more he should have based on his skills.

175 is not really a great division, but he can`t be a world champ even there.

You don't think he can beat the Vlasov-Salamov winner for the WBO? I didn't before but idk why that would be impossible.

He improves with every fight and he is not limited. He has a great attack throwing a large number of near perfect punches with real power in damn near every punch. Some guys hit hard with some punches but most of their punches are not that hard. Very few hit hard with damn near every punch the way Smith d Smith oes. his punches are also fairly fast and accurate. He beat the hell out of Alvarez round after round. Bivol easily beat him but Bivol easily beats everyone he has ever fought. Smith hurt Bivol and nobody else has ever hurt Bivol. Smith always attacks and has a high work rate and puts tremendous pessure on his opponents and usually knocks them out. He can knock guys out with one punch or a number of punches. he has been outboxed and beat a few times but I think he is better now. I think only Beterbiev and Bivol can beat him and he probably beats the rest at 175. His defense has improved a lot.
