I wonder if Povetkin had a rematch clause if he lost ? He obviously didn't after getting KTFO by Joshua.

Why should Whyte have one for a mandatory slot ? There's some fast Eddie BS going on here.

It should be next in line on the rankings to challenge Povetkin for the mandatory position unless he wants to wait it out for the shot at whoever is left standing after Pulev, Wilder and Usyk.

Whyte should get shuffled to the back of the pack after such a humiliating loss and earn his way back to the top, like Parker is.

Fast Eddie giving whyte a free ride back to relevancy makes a mockery of rankings and mandatory slots.

Imagine if he does this for Usyk should he lose to Chisora ?

In that scenario, an unproven heavyweight by way of a champion stepping up a division gets 2 bites at a mandatory position he never earnt in the first place as a legit heavy ?

A promoter enforcing a rematch for a mandatory is a slippery precedent to set and really needs to be in the governing body's jurisdiction to authorize, not the promoters!

I'd like to see team Povetkin challenge the rematch clause...

Wait a minute! Hold your horses fanboy. Let's face some facts here. Wilder offered him a total of four title defenses on four different occasions but yet he refused all of them.

Let's go down the line; First Wilder said put Joshua's name on the same contract and I will give you a title defense but Whyte declined. Secondly, Wilder told Whyte to challenge Luis Ortiz and defeat him and I'll give you a shot at the title and yet once again Dillian Whyte declined the offer.

Thirdly, Wilder told him to come over and sign with the PBC and he would let him challenge him for his title but he rejected that offer also and lastly, Wilder told Whyte to fight his Final eliminator bout against Luiz Ortiz which was sanctioned by the WBC and then he would get his title shot but Dillian Whyte with his infinite wisdom turned that offer down as well.

So in closing, Wilder did all he could to try to prevent Whyte from jumping off a cliff. He tried everything in his power to save him from himself but Dillian was hard headed. He wouldn't heed any advice. He was his own worst enemy.

His loss to the aging cherrypicked Sasha Povetkin was a self-inflicted wound that could have been avoided. So he only has himself to blame.

It seemed like Whyte was trying more for the sly headbutt, like he did Parker than he was in defending the uppercut trap Povetkin laid for him.

It was the perfect setup ripping open bodyshots on whyte enough to get him expecting it and dropping guard to defend til the one time Povetkin decided to go for broke.

I don't think even he expected whyte to be as wide open as he was for the knockout blow.

Sasha had everything in that punch. Legs, arms, shoulders, chest were all torqued and lined up.

          It was perfect!

I’m guessing it’s not going to be in a backyard, a veranda, a tool shed, a garage, a plantation or any sort of nonsensical tomfoolery?

Throwing the guy under the same truck immediately is definitely a smart move..

For guys who root for Whyte or think it was an accident - recommend you to watch Pov-Charr fight. And try to count how many Pov's uppercuts Charr ate before he finally collapsed.
Your boy went down cold after the first..

Guys who can't take uppercuts at all shouldn't be in the ring imo..

Yeah, at 41, not sure if Povetkin will be up for nearly back to back training camps, either physically or emotionally. It'll probably be pretty good money for him though.
