While I agree with what you're saying, I think people tend to just take the "Ortiz was a great amateur" at face value. He was pretty good, that's honestly about it. He never won a world championship, he never even got into the Olympic squad. I think he only really won the Cuban tournament and i'm sure that was just the once.

Povetkin is an Olympic gold medalist and a former heavyweight champion.

Having said that, i'd really like to see the fight

How is this even a debate?

Ortiz is like Motivated Broner on this board. Some monster that can’t be beaten... apart from ATG Wilder

In reality, Ortiz has literally accomplished nothing. Povetkin has fought the who’s who of the division, and has given everyone trouble apart from Wlad who fouled the hell out of him. If Ortiz really was this monster, why couldn’t he beat Wilder, who was a second tier titleholder?

Povetkin is better. He has proven how good he is against quality opposition while Ortiz has fought nobody.

Overall Povetkin because of his career but right now? It's gotta be Ortiz, he's nowhere near as shot as Povetkin.

They're about the same I reckon, but I voted for Povetkin based on record. He's had a bigger impact at the top level than Ortiz, although that may be because Ortiz hasn't had as many chances.

I dunno, I can think of two pretty decent chances for Ortiz against the 2nd tier titleholder... and fluffed it twice

If he was such a monster as the Americans on NSB like to make out (so much so that he doesn’t need to have a resume, eye test alone is proof), then he should have beaten the limited Wilder, twice
