Comments Thread For: Alexander Povetkin Gets Off The Floor, Brutally Blasts Dillian Whyte in Five

Whyte dropped Povetkin twice in the 4th. I don't think a garbage fighter could have done that. Alexander said that they studied Whyte and realized that he's susceptible to the uppercut. It was a beautiful example of discovering and exploiting the opponent's weakness. Dillian is still learning in that he has hardly any amateur experience. Things will be different in the rematch.Comment

So, are we talking boxing here or are we conducting a character study? Because that cat Sonny Liston in your avi was no saint.Comment

He had 21 professional kickboxing matches, and fought MMA and he was fighting in the novice class. He put one of his opponents in a coma.
So yeah. **** him.Comment

We are talking boxing. That is the reason he had such a small amateur career. He was found out. In the Ams theres "novice class" for guys with fewer than 10 bouts. Basically it's to avoid mismatches and let people learn.

Can we stop acting like Dillian Whyte is some kind of novice?
He's had 21 pro kickboxing fights, 1 pro MMA fight, 6 amateur boxing fights, and 29 pro boxing fights. He's been a pro boxer for almost 10 years, and he was a kickboxer for years before that.
He's a finished product. He's 32 years old. He's not going to wake up one day and suddenly be a technical master.Comment
