Good choice, PBC fighters can go anywhere to fight, any platform and any promotion. Al haymon is the way to go for American boxing

If what you guys are saying DAZN is true, it's unfortunate. I have noticed that the only US card that they have had was a Matchroom USA. I enjoy the app and all the fights that were on it. I'm not a big MMA but I will watch that when I don't have boxing.

Regarding Prograis, it probably makes sense from a financial perspective but I just don't know how his physical stature and style will translate to 147. It didn't seem like 140 was difficult for him to make. Oh well, I'm a fan of his and look forward to seeing him in the ring and hope he does well.

And in the future when it’s attempted again, they would do well to get boxing people to run the effort and a lead promoter who actually is American and knows the American market. Had dazn signed with Haymon and acted as an app option to go along with their fox and showtime ppv options they would have been a success.

Skipper at the helm of DAZN doesn't inspire confidence in me. I lost alot of respect for them when they pushed back the start of Canelo's fight with Kovalev. It was a sign of weakness and hurt all of boxing IMO.

Golden Boy seems like they have a more narrow focus - mostly Latino fighters and their stature comes from Canelo. Hearn and Matchroom are a power in the UK but he's struggled to establish his US foothold. It's a shame because I really like his UK cards.

I really despise Arum but he's been around for a while and continues to be relevant. My guess is that his deal with ESPN works for both him and the network. He's managed to work partnerships with Warren which has strengthened his reach.

Anyway, if DAZN fails, I hope that someone else comes along with a boxing or combat sports app that gives me fights every weekend and sometimes in weekdays.

Regis to 147lb confirmed. Although he should push for a Broner fight at 140 firstly.

The PBC at 140 has one or two good fights, three tops. Honestly, at 147 Reigis might make top ten but he gets stopped by any of the top five.

An honest assessment and a lot to think about.

It seems that when the hedge fund stopped bank rolling the PBC they were forced to contract with a network similar to Arum with ESPN. The fighters with the PBC may be free agents but Al Haymon has a contract with Showtime and Fox. If anyone step outside of the network, they end up black balled like Lou DeBella.

As for DAZN, a streaming based boxing site for more than $10 per month without actual boxing is a tough sell. Besides that, a lot of people sign up for DAZAN for big fights and then cancel.

Needless to say, $80 PPVs are dying a slow death. It's simply too easy to stream fights for free.

You realize the business models and profit source for each of the businesses you mentioned are diametric opposites. I don't even know where to start.

For one, Showtime and Fox would NEVER allow Haymon to run DAZN. Make no mistake, Al is a content provider, Fox and Showtime call the shots. Second, PPV's are too easily streamed for free, they aren't making what they once did. Networks will keep throwing out PPVs but they are shrinking and the guaranteed money isn't there anymore. The unlimited DAZN cash is drying up and the hedge fund that bankrolled the PBC is gone. Boxing in general, not just DAZN, is going through a serious, serious realignment.

Dazn itself may not fail but dazn USA will. It doesn’t have any sports the american fan wants to pay to see. Even it’s boxing is low quality because Hearn failed to sign the stars from Pbc. What makes PBC work for the fighters is they don’t have to float that 30% bill for the promoter and they themselves get the back end money. The fighters are more wealthy than haymon is. And to be honest, with m really unconcerned how much of the time buy money gets paid back, as long as FOX and Showtime keep floating the budget for PBC, and as long as ESPN keep subsidising Top Rank, especially since both en****** have shown they’ll work together to make fights. When deadzone goes under its fighters will continue to swell PBC and Top Rank and we can get back to the majority of Americans having access to boxing and the sport can grow again. Deadzone damaged boxing in the USA big time. Canelo the so called “face of boxing” has been forgotten by the American sports fan. He was bigger when he was fighting on hbo and showtime than when he went to an obscure app.
I get that there are many fans on boxingscene that just don’t like exist american fight outfits and haymon is at the top of that list because he put hbo out of business, reduced golden boy to its current status, and was targeted by a foreign outfit in Matchroom as the main competiton in an “American takeover”.....the battles over, haymon weathered the storm. The future of American boxing needs to be growth....and it’s not going to grow on an app only approach. The app only HURT AMERICAN BOXING....there’s no way around that. It took a segment of it off the airwaves AND the ridiculous overpaying of fighters who were not worth it definitely hurt the sport

prograis has no shot at winning against any of those guys. he couldn't beat taylor at 140 the bigger guys will kill him. that's a dumb move when he had a taylor rematch easily in the bag or a fight against ramirez at 140. both title fights and both winnable.

Don’t sleep on prograis, he wasn’t too small for Taylor just less active. He has the tools to move up and more importantly the power to make any fighter pay for mistakes
