Fury already has the "respect of the boxing universe" (besides the minority of Wildettes still grieving). He's embarrassed Wilder twice now.

Fury is a steroid cheating con man who has never defended a belt and has only fought 2 good fighters. He is trying to avoid his mandatory, to face another bum instead. Cowardice ducking at its worst
When you say he’s only fought two good fighters, which two fighters are you referring to?

Wilder and Klitschko of course. Look at the rest of his resume. Especially lately. And he is trying to squeeze in a fight this year with a new bum. While skipping out on his mandatory.

This. The guy has received waaaaay more credit than his body of work deserves. You'd think he had beaten AJ, Whyte, Parker, Ruiz, Dubous each twice - the way people are ****ing on about him.
He's done well, despite struggling against some no names. But he has not even begun to dominate this hw division. To do that he needs to actually fight his mandatory, and win about 3 or 4 more against top guys, and only then will he deserve the praise he is already getting.

He's fought 2 guys out of the current top 33 in the world right now. He has conned the boxing public into thinking he is an unbeatable monster who KOs everybody all of a sudden haha. I see right through him, like I saw right through Wilder. And I am praying that Whyte wins tomorrow so that the WBC can start to put the squeeze on him to fight Whyte hahahaa. A champion would fight Whyte, but a chump would make excuses, avoid and vacate.

That fight isn’t happening without that impressive large gate. It’s not going to happen this year and it appears to be fury’s promoters who are holding out....doesn’t Fury even get that? At this point boxing will have to build momentum to get the interest where it was for a gate like that again. We are nowhere near that right now. That fight doesn’t happen until summer of 2021 or Autumn at best. It just seems like there are many in the boxing world who just don’t fully understand that sports are not the social focus they were before March of 2020

Fury has only fought one top-20 fighter (Wilder) in 6 years. The rest were bums. He has earnt the respect of the casuals. I'll give him respect when he beats a couple more top-10 fighters. Nothing wrong with expecting a boxing champion to beat more than one decent fighter.....

If people don't respect the skill set he has then they should go and watch competitive tiddlywinks instead.

Speaking on his resume; he's only been back boxing two years after ballooning up in weight to nearly 400lbs, and has faced two unknown, undefeated prospects who have been spoken about in boxing circles for five or six years as "ones to watch", and completely embarrassed the guy that a lot considered the number one heavyweight, twice. That's more than Wilder has done in his entire career. If that doesn't earn respect from non casuals, then those non casuals aren't worth the shít roll they wipe with.

I think they'd make more money with a PPV during the pandemic than a live gate + PPV post pandemic.

The opportunity is highest to get the maximum number of buys now, when there are more people in front of a tv than under non lockdown / distancing circumstances.
