He is a good judge of distance so if a fighter falls short with his punches he will make him pay by leaning slightly and countering.

Comey who is older and slower decided that he was the alpha in the ring was just gonna outtrade faster, younger more athletic guy. That was the worst gameplan he could have implemented.

Lopez generates his power by having a wide stance which works perfectly fine against fighters who don't have any lateral movement.

Loma arguably has the best lateral movement in the sport. Although very different in every other aspect than Walters, Lopezes' footwork is very similar to that of Walters.

What is Lopez gonna do when Loma starts to circle him? He needs to be firmly in his wide stance to generate power just like Walters. without good foot placement, Lopez is just an arm puncher.

It's still possible Loma gets caught because that's boxing but other than punchers chance I just don't see a way for Lopez to win. Loma is not gonna start trading with Lopez, Loma is not gonna just come straight forward without any head movement, and most importantly he is not gonna just stand at the dangerous distance waiting for Lopez to figure out how to land a huge punch. Maybe if Lopez starts going to the body early and slows Loma down significantly. He could try to push Loma around and make it dirty just like Salido but even fighting dirty is a skill and fighters rarely just change their fighting style overnight. Lopez has been a pretty clean boxer so far.

Youth, athleticism and size are very underrated here. That’s what makes this fight 60/40

Mind you 60/40 in Lomas favor because he’s that damn good.

This reminds me of James Toney vs Roy with Toney being Loma.

Only difference Loma isn’t undisciplined like Toney but Toney at 168 is top 5 all time.

        Roy toyed with him.

Loma hasn’t looked all that great at 135, is coming off a shoulder injury within the last 2 years and is getting older by the day.

Lopez has a really good shot. Loma is obviously favored but Lopez is a live dog and I can’t wait!

        War Lenca! War Catracho!

I agree that Loma didn't look amazing in some of his last few fights but not all of that can be attributed to his age. I think a good portion of it has to do with stylistic matchups that did not favor him. If you don't include Salido he seems to struggle the most with long rangy fighters that control the distance with long jab and good foot movement. Cambell, Linares, Pedraza all fit the bill.
Lopez likes to pump his jab here and there but he does not try to control anyone with it. For him, the jab is more of the range finder.

I can see Lopez scoring a flash knockdown in the early rounds. Loma brushes it off and then boxes circles around him. Either a UD win or Lopez quits out of frustration or mental breakdown. Possibly even fake an injury.

Loma is super cautious the first 4 rounds, I think Linare's situation is more likely. Loma gets ****y after beating up Lopez for few rounds and gets caught with something.

A young kid with a huge ego seems like a perfect candidate for a quit job. Not saying it will happen but I just don't see why not.
