Because folks at DAZN have been complaining about other match-ups Canelo has had and how they performed disappointingly.

If they are the ones controlling who Canelo fights, what are they complaining about?

Right. We know the amount of fights and the amount being paid out over the course of them. The rumours are that GBP and therefore Canelo have final word on his opponents. Everything we have seen seems to confirm that. Course the sanctioning bodies can veto a fight. DAZN can refuse a matchup of course, but then they just have to wait for another one. Nobody will get to see the wording of the contract. That type of stuff would only ever come up in court if things got that disputed. Basically Canelo doesn’t “HAVE” to do anything even if his full purse is offered. He is basically The Pope. DAZN letting Canelo fight a Ricky Fielding for that much money doesn’t show they have the stroke. Nor does having to offer a bonus for another GGG fight.

I see a lot of people on here saying good for DAZN and I agree this fight is not worth it, but let's get one thing straight, Canelo or Golden Boy never mentioned this fight as an option. Just because the WBC throws this out there doesn't mean it's going to happen, IDK why people are losing their minds like it was Canelo bringing this up, as far as I know the the fight being put together is the Smith fight which was actually close to being agreed with before DAZN sh** all over it because they didn't want to crank open their wallets. So before everyone else starts praising DAZN, it's DAZN that's broke because of their bad management and now don't want to pay the money for a contract they put together. For the type of money Canelo makes his fights need to be on PPV, just like every other star did in the past, a subscription based service on a app for $20 Bucks ain't going to cut it, for that 2 happen they would need 10 million constant subscribers, even Canelo fans will tell you that they are not going to pay $20 a month to watch Canelo fight once or twice a year, places like HBO, Showtime could pull that off because they have other content, DAZN does not. Point is that it's getting to the point where Canelo is wasting time waiting on DAZN to get their sh** together, sooner or later something is going to happen meaning DAZN violated the contract and Canelo could walk, ESPN, Fox, or Showtime would jump all over Canelo, he's not going to get 35 million guaranteed but he will get a very good guarantee with high PPV upside just like the others De la Hoya, PAC, Mayweather, ect etc. And before you come at me with YOUR CRAZY, walk away from 300 million? Yeah because DAZN just doesn't have the money or platform to pay so Canelo is never going to see that money anyway.

Don't be so sure you're right about what DAZN has or doesn't have in the contract.

Golden Boy has been in the boxing business a lot longer than anyone at DAZN has been.

they don't pick his opponents, they approve what's presented. They allowed rocky fielding as a sign of good faith as his first fight with them... and also since it was only months after the ggg rematch. They definitely pushed for jacobs because he was a dazn guy first and it was a solid fight. They were at an impasse last Sept and that caused an issue but they eventually were OK with Kovalev because he has a name. Now they've had conflict since then because they haven't seen great returns on those previous fights, which is why they know there will be even less interest in him facing this nobody. They 100% can approve and decline what opponent they're willing to pay for.

yeah right. Oscar can try and do that independently and watch how bad it bombs. If he felt that he could have that kind of success independently, he never would've went to dazn from the beginning. Just because you love Canelo with all your heart doesn't mean the rest of the boxing world is willing to spend a cent on that trash fight. Canelo fans have proven to be a new level of corny by not only being ok with this fight, but being mad that dazn won't approve it. Have some self respect as a boxing fan

LOL, Canelo vs Liam Smith did 300,000 PPV buys @ $64.95 a piece. Those are better number than most of the others stars in boxing are doing today. Don’t be jealous cause Canelo will be a 4 division champion once he beats Yildirim for the 168 WBC strap, And New!

Ha ha ha, pugmire is the biggest hater. He requested the WBC belt shot, not to fight this dude. The plan was to have him and Smith fight for the title since they been negotiating, The WBC threw this out there. I trust Yahoo sports who had a story on this, not this dude.

He's not the draw you want him to be. Now Forget the fact that you adore Canelo like a king and feel he should have free reign to do whatever he wants, state a valid boxing related argument as to why dazn should be willing to pay over 30 mil for Canelo to fight this scrub from turkey. Puigmire and Coppinger are both in Eddie Hearn pocket. Every other story from them is how Canelo will be leaving Golden Boy yet dude still w/t them same with Ryan. At 30 canelo is a waaaaay bigger star and a richer one than fairy Floyd was at 30 and will only continue to get bigger so keep on hating that only Helps him.

Don’t worry this fight will happen with or without DAZN consent. Oscar can always do an independent PPV for this fight similar to what Tyson vs Jones are doing with their fight. Will it do big numbers I doubt it but it will get Canelo that belt @ 168 which should give him more negotiating power with the other 168 lbs champs. When it’s all said and done Canelo will be the new WBC champion @ super middleweight

That's true. I think it might do close to 500K, with the Ryan Garcia-Campbell fight on the undercard, plus a lot of other Mexican boxers. I think they can make a good coin. Most fights will be going on PPV during this time anyway.

Canelo should show DAZN the finger.
