Okay, so recently he's had plenty of fighters calling him out as he is one of the few top WWs without a fight lined up. Let's ignore the GRJ call out since that is nonsense. But every time a fighter calls him out, Arum says the demands are unrealistic or the fight is not possible right now. To be fair, they are also supposedly in negotiations for a Pacquiao showdown and if he is able to get that, then that's awesome. But that also seems unlikely as Pacquiao's team has come out and said there have been no negotiations.
Thurman's team reached out to Arum regarding a Crawford showdown and Crawford's manager quickly shot it down saying HIS team needs to send Crawford an offer and not the other way around. That was an amusing statement considering the fight would be taking place on ESPN, the network Crawford fights at? Anyways, Crawford has already come out numerous of times and has said he's not taking a pay cut to fight during the pandemic and he wants what is in his contract. A fighter like Thurman who just made career high money against Pacquiao is going to want a good purse himself. So what exactly is the solution? Thurman, as I pointed out to in another thread has CONSISTENTLY done good ratings and is coming off a PPV that sold around 500k buys. If you are Top Rank, why not heavily pursue this fight and put it on PPV? After all, Spence vs DSG is happening in November and will be on PPV. Crawford vs Thurman is a fight that can sell well and may even get close to the 250-300k buys range. Even without a gate, that will be quite a bit of revenue generated.
Brook is another name being mentioned as a potential opponent and Hearn has come out and said he will be pricey and will want a nice pay day.
If Crawford can't get Pacquiao, then what exactly does TR do with him? It seems like one minute his team is saying no one wants to fight him and then when fighters do reach out to TR, they respond by saying the demands are unrealistic. Do you just put him on PPV and risk taking a loss in hopes it will make the Spence showdown in 2021 even bigger?
