Benavidez never made headlines or begged for Canelo when he KO’d Krusher nor did Benavidez diss or disrespect Canelo for it. In fact, aside from Plant, what other fighters did Benavidez call out? You want the truth Jack Nicholson style?! David could quite possibly never make 168 again which means he gets dibs at 175 for the WBC. Are you widdit to say that David could handle Beterbiev? That’s the logical step if you can’t make 168 right? How you funna spin that?

First off Benavidez shouldnt beg anybody for a fight he had the belt. If Nelo wanted that belt why didnt he man up and try to fight Benavidez for it? You got that backwards. The champ dont call out the other guys. It's their job to try and take the throne.

I'm not by any means saying that Benavidez is anywhere near the name that Nelo is but that's a fight the Ginger might lose IMO

Second if Benavidez does go to 175 I think he can make waves. Bivol cant beat him and Beterbiev may very well lose that one too if Benavidez Carrie's his speed up with him. I think his power will increase as he moves up considering he is naturally a bigger guy.

we had the exact same situation at 135 recently (2 mandatories, no. 1 guy and a diamond belt owner). 2 mandatories fought for the vacant title. that's normal.

1) yildirim - smith for the vacant title and abdugofurov - lemieux for the mandatory position
2) yildirim - abdugofurov for the vacant title and canelo - smith (if they can agree) winner is the next mandatory (if he wants it then anyway)

canelo - smith is a good fight and it should happen but i don't have a feeling it would be easier to negotiate it just because wbc belt is at stake too. at the same time, it would be unfair to yildirim and abdugofurov.
