Very true! So many different things going on with different promoters. You look at Lom vs Lopez and that's the best fight right now and it's on ESPN with no PPV which is great. And then PBC is basically taking two main events (the Charlo brothers) and tying them together for a PPV which doesnt seem right. I would rather see PBC break the two many events into separate cards and not charge PPV. And now that all the promoters and networks have gotten their feet wet with boxing cards during Covid, it's time to make better machups than having either house fighters in setups which was the same before Covid, or a situation where they recycle fighters for each show like they did with the TR/ESPN initially where you saw the same fighter fight 2-3 times on cards during June and July.

We criticized him because he had been calling for his fight with his loud mouth and said it would be easy

1.2 million isn't pennies and his father is on record saying they were looking upwards of 3 million plus

Lomachenko haters claimed we wanted Teo to accept a low ball offer but we knew it wouldn't be big because of the pandemic

They didnt and they didn't care. All the saw was a white man being mean to a colored man trying to make money.

Lopez is on record saying 135 is tough to make. He also holds the IBF belt and was willing to fight for considerably less than 1.2 despite the fact he said no tune ups.

So some of these fake fans would have rather allowed this fight to be killed out right rather than have it happen.

Agendas I tell you. Young boxers pretend they're better than they are and racist fans not wanting fights until their guy has the advantage.

Boxing is trash because of that fact.

he backed out because out of almost a $5 million pot, he was getting $1.2 in a title unification.

Had he been some unknown mando or something, ok, I feel you. But there should have been a better offer than 75-25, and ultimately there was................

Yea. Just goes to show. Times like this, everyone tightening their belts. Boxing promoters and network execs seem to see it as a time to water down the product and put the top fights on the backburner. Terrible if we have 6-12 months of mismatches and setups to look forward to. Contenders pricing themselves out in the current climate. We may never see a pre-Covid market in boxing ever again. Instead of keeping the sport alive and kicking, seems like it is going to come to a sputtering halt. Will be hard to stay interested. "We not putting on the big fights, unless we can fleece the paying fans to the max! And we can't do that right now!" Seems like to me.

If you're a top fighter with a name...

Do you gamble your record on a fight for much lower money or wait it out?

As a fan I want big fights, but as a fighter I would be taking a keep warm fight and holding the big fights over until the gates return.

I don't think you can blame them.

While they wait it out, they are getting a year or so older. I'm hoping the fans are wise and don't go running to pay to pamper these guys..

I think boxing could be in for a big shock.. the boxers have every right to hold out. the PPV fees an admission fees are certainly going to rise and they will expect fans to go clambering for tickets and PPVs at inflated prices.. some won't pay it out of principal, some won't be able to afford it any longer and some will just pay whatever..

I think some boxers could be in for a shock when they decide to grace us with their presence...

I dont get why people keep on bringing up that split like it even matters. It only matters when people want it to and Pre-Covid numbers will NEVER be the same as current Covid numbers.

Case in point, near damn everyone who has a problem with Teofimo "only" making 25% has given people like Canelo the green light to throw true lowball offers at guys like Callum smith/BJS.

              35/6 million split = 12%

You think thats fair? And both guys are way more known that Teofimo Lopez.

Teofimo Lopez is a virtual nobody. I would place him in the same category right now as Richard Commey. A unknown who just won his first world championship.

How much did Commey make pre Covid? 750k for his fight against Lopez. Was that "fair"?

Yet Lopez wants to complain that he deserves more?

Lomachenko is more popular. Lomachenko brings more views. Lomachenko has more belts.

Hardly justification for more than 25%.
