"We will only give you B/C/D-class fights until we can make pre-corona money..."

Is that not an insult to the fans?

We are living through a pandemic, the global economy is going into a recession. And we have these promoters and boxers telling us we won't be seeing the best fight the best until things settle down and they can make as much money as possible off us again? So, any hopes of top fights is off the menu? Considering we may not see gate receipts like before the virus for a long time, are these people living in cuckoo land?

Seems like an insult to me. The economy and the market should dictate the top earnings in Boxing. How many "corona tuneups" do we need to see? "I will fight a gimme in an empty arena for $100,000, but I want $3 million to take a tough fight!" These people need a reality check. I wonder if Tevin Farmer is still holding out for lottery numbers to lose to Tank Davis.

As a boxing fan first and foremost, a lot of them are complete fairies *compared* to UFC fighters in particular where the best fight the best or they get cut from the promotion. This isn't a new perspective or anything, many people have fallen out of love with boxing because of all the diva sh_t and ducking. Boxing is a pretty big joke and has been for a long time, especially during this virus crap...you'd find more entertaining fights (at around the same skill level) at your local pub

Can't argue with that. I've been watching the UFC more lately after not much the past few years. It will be a black mark on Boxing if we get years now where the best don't fight the best... imagine it. Careers and legacies will be ruined. "There was a virus doe! Couldn't make much money doe!" That won't translate well onto resumes in hindsight. Top fighters treading water in gimme fights.

It's the entire entertainment industry really

Theres a bunch of movies that were either finished or in late stage post production that Hollywood is sitting on.

A new movie theatre opened near me this week and the selection of films on is laughable, they are all made for TV quality.

Maybe from Top Rank, but you got to give it to DAZN/MAtchroom for putting on good fights. Today was great. Next weekend will be even better. In fact, I just signed up again for the year with DAZN.

The shows in Eddie's backyard have mostly been mismatches. The ones that have been competitive weren't supposed to be. He putting his "house" fighters against opponents with records that look decent on paper, but when you look closer, they have padded records against opponents who've lost more than they've won, low KO ratios, moving up in weight etc...

look at all the people defending Teofimo Lopez.

Lopez called for this fight and backed out because it wasn't enough to feed his family

We criticized him because he had been calling for his fight with his loud mouth and said it would be easy

1.2 million isn't pennies and his father is on record saying they were looking upwards of 3 million plus

Lomachenko haters claimed we wanted Teo to accept a low ball offer but we knew it wouldn't be big because of the pandemic

They didnt and they didn't care. All the saw was a white man being mean to a colored man trying to make money.

Lopez is on record saying 135 is tough to make. He also holds the IBF belt and was willing to fight for considerably less than 1.2 despite the fact he said no tune ups.

So some of these fake fans would have rather allowed this fight to be killed out right rather than have it happen.

Agendas I tell you. Young boxers pretend they're better than they are and racist fans not wanting fights until their guy has the advantage.

Boxing is trash because of that fact.

                    Right .
I guess it's my bad for coming on a Boxing forum and expecting to catch a breath from all the race b.s being instigated these days.
