Comments Thread For: Jessica McCaskill Decisions Cecilia Braekhus in Huge Upset

Matchroom Boxing USA will return on August 15 – taking world championship boxing to the streets in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma, live on DAZN. (photos by Ed Mulholland)

The hotly anticipated return for Eddie Hearn’s US arm will see downtown Tulsa streets blocked off from 4th and 6th at the intersection of S. Boston Ave, with no fans present, strict social distancing and medical protocols in place, and a ring placed in the middle of the street at 5th and S. Boston Ave to set a stunning stage for what promises to be an explosive night of action.

The card will be led by Cecilia Braekhus (36-0 9 KOs) defending her undisputed Welterweight championship in Maryland against Jessica McCaskill (8-2 3 KOs), rising Uzbekistan star Shakhram Giyasov (9-0 7 KOs) puts his WBA International Super-Lightweight title against Francisco Rojo (22-3 15 KOs), and a trio of young talents complete the card in Nikita Ababiy (8-0 6 KOs), Raymond Ford (5-0 2 KOs) and the debut of amateur star Marc Castro.

Rooting for McCaskill but Braekhus should win easy, more comfy at the weight, bigger, longer, lot more experience, possibly faster, better technique and smarter!

Only advantages Jessica has is her physical strength, power, youth, possibly hunger, and her pace!

McCaskill has to jump on Braekhus early and not let her get into a rhythm!

Props to McCaskill, for a fighter with so few fights she has taken on 5 killers in a row:
      Taylor
      Farias
      Sanchez
      Farias
      Braekhus

Unfortunately for her, Braekhus is the best of the bunch by a wide margin and she's going to win this fight easily.

Just watched Walker beat up Pearson. Could be a good fight against Madrimov.

Yeah, I know the odds and expectation are hugely in favour of Israil here but Walker ain't - if you'll forgive the pun - a walk-through by any means. Substantial step up in competition for Madrimov here and it'll be interesting to see how he performs. Good damn fight.

This for sure ^. Jessica ain't gonna outbox Cecilia but she might be able to swarm and pressure her out of her comfort zone, make it a brawl. It's a long shot cos no-one in the female sport has Braekhus' composure and experience at the top level, but it's the best chance she got I reckon.

Cecilia Breakhaus is a walking legend with 26 title defenses. If she were a man, she would receive 10 times the props. Fortunately womens boxing is gaining some traction. Wish they had 3 mins instead of 2. A lot of the women seem to have outstanding cardio and stamina

I'm hoping to see what happens when all the angles and loading up on big shots don't work. When someone can start timing him I wanna know if Madrimov has some good fundamentals to fall back on. Something can be there with him if it's developed but that kind of athleticism only lasts so long. Sometimes a good jab might be more important than foot work that might not have any real importance to settling anything up.
