It has nothing to do with Ethnic background as it has more to do with, in my opinion, the attitude certain cultures/countries have.

The fact is, Americans and Russians seem to be a lot more competitive and have a "I am the ****/best" type of attitude, much more than other countries at this point in history.
Why else do you think the Cold War happened

This is why the French hated Lance Armstrong; it was more his attitude to have to win and never except placing in second.
I heard it all through the years he was racing, fellow competitors in the sport didn't understand his ego to win and thinking that anything other than 1st place is FAILURE.

Just like the Russians in the Olympics: ex: when the girl gymnasts placed 2nd to the American girl team that one year the Russians were pissed, and some took of there silver medal.

Except people that you refer to as "Russians"

Include a many different people of different cultures. Of different attitudes.

    THats the problem in generelizing.

All these people share some cultural similaritiers but are very different in what they eat to their political views.

I just find it odd that people in US seem to tottaly ignore that.

The Franks were a germanic tribe. Are the French and the Germans teh same thing? Or would you even refer to them as the same? I dont think so.

True, most of America doesn't really care about what goes on outside of America because they are to worried what is going on in their own country and lives.
Why would the "Blue-collar" family want to spend valuable time learning about such countries when they have to worry about paying the rent and feeding their family...Americans work long hours, with little vacation, so any free time they get will go to their own lives, not studying up on the rest of the not so known world.

This is exaclty the attitude one should have, look for good things, even if there are not much of them. Still, who is intriguing out of the bunch?

No doubt, one of the best athletes Russia ever produced.
Cant take nothing from the victory of Gardner, I really thought Karelin was gonna hand him his ass.

I just find it odd that people in US seem to tottaly ignore that.

Ah, but an attitude can be placed on people that are under 1 power, or at least were.

If you take the "Former Soviet Countries" and look at the attitude and lifestyle it seemed to have during that reign...that of average to poor people that were told to honor thy country by being number one, "you are number one", it can ingrain an attitude in their minds.

Take for instance why the called it the "Dark Ages":
People knew that there was a past that had a culture of people that lived a better life, a better sense of self/attitude; referring to the Romans. The Italians, knowing that their past was a great Roman Empire, knew, wanted, and forced the change.

Notice other countries that are poor seem not to have so many people rise compared to others that have learned and felt that sense of achievement.

Take the Dominican Republic, Baseball as an example:
America went in and planted their seed, or baseball fields, into the minds of the population of poverty stricken youth...they showed them that if you become good, if you want to be the best, the reward is a better lifestyle.

It is about attitude, and having someone open that door, that idea, of wanting it, feeling you deserve it, that makes it the same.

NOT TRYING TO DEVIDE PEOPLE INTO DIFFERENT "RACES", INSTEAD, TRYING TO SHOW THE POSSIBILITY THAT ATTITUDE OF CULTURE, FROM THE PAST, OR PRESENT, HAS INFLUENCE.
