    Why all the nationalistic crap?

I really don't understand it. I mean, I've seen it before to a degree between the brits and americans, but never as bad as this. Why do we care if the heavyweight division is currently ruled by current or former eastern Europeans? It seems to me that there was at least a small amount of joy when Valuev took the belt away from a boring Ruiz. Why the change?

Is it that people were ****** enough to take that "America's last Line of Defense" advertising campaign to heart?

    Isn't Oleg an American?

I heard he has citizenship, so that makes him American

Seriously, I don't care where the Fighter is from, as long as he is good, exciting, and brings the media hype to the sport.

I didn't mind when Lennox was Champion; though it is a bit of a shame the media didn't cover him because of his calm demeanor.
I mean, isn't it better actually to have a "Champion" that can actually communicate to the people/children?

It does make him an American, but apparently not to promoters who are trying to sell a fight, and not "Amercan enough" for some rednecks here, apparently. Worse, he "all of a sudden" American to many others.

It is always like this with americans, not only in boxing, not only in sports, sometimes it seems like almost every last american think they stand above the rest of the world.

It is the "American attitude to think they are the best...just like the Romans thought they were the best...the Positive to this is that they continuelly will Dream to make things better and try to make it happen...the Negative is that sometimes when you Dream to much, or just think you are the best, you can tend to get lazy, which leads to overconfidence and the your potential downfall.

It is not only in America though, there are a lot of Russians that are known for their ****y attitudes.

it is nature...Men, women, children, need a LEADER, and they look to the strongest, the Alpha-male.

I would say that the majority of humans do not want to lead; they will seek out a Leader to lead the pack; these "leaders" are always in the small percentile and they fight eachother for the spot.

Its a thin-vellied attept to hide that underlying racism in HW (hell just about all American sports) Not one of these boys would complain if the four champs were

                Samuel Peter

Ike Iebuchi (yeah I know, but this is to make a opoint)

                Matt Skelton

                Laennox Lewis

None of this Bullchit would be mentioned

I wonder why they think this. It's not like America is the #1 superpower in the world or anything

We love to be hated. Yep, you heard me, WE LOVE TO BE HATED, but prove our haters wrong. We been like that for the entire history of our nation. Up until recent time(20th century, really) we were always the underdog, than somehow was surviving and then beating its adversaires.
But what do we got now? We get to become number one, and obviously, we changed positions with the whole world. Now we look down on anybody(especially aliens and immigrants), and now, whenever someone is fighting an american, he is an underdog, not an american. And that is why the loss is so bitter, as it always more bitter for the topdog. That is where the hate comes from, we are no more underdogs, we are number 1, and being leader is not a luxury, it never is and never was. It is responsibility and it is a burden, and a heavy burden.
And whenever we see an immigrant beating one of the americans, we see nonetheless, but ourselves. Ourselves, when we were young and hungry. And we know, that we dont have it as much anymore, and we know, that these that are young and hungry are very dangerous to us.
