  • Lennox Lewis on Joe Rogan

So just finished the Lennox Lewis ep Joe Rogan Experience.

Lennox comes across as someone with a big chip on his shoulder as if he never got the full love when he was heavyweight champion of the world.

Lennox sounds really salty too when he described all the reasons why he lost to Hasim Rahman stating he didnt know Africa was that high of elevation, he was sitting around too long on the set of Oceans 11, the ref was on Hasim side, the ring was uneven.

I like Lennox, never viewed him as all that great, but giving all these excuses made him seem petty.

You can tell too that he wasn't that fond of AJ and still jealous that AJ was getting way more love than him.

Lennox also explained that he was already ready to retire but still fought on to land the big Tyson fight.

Joe says Tyson was on the decline when he fought him and Lennox is like no he wasn't, (yes he was!)

I do think Lennox never got the full love he should of got but I think it was more so his boring fighting style and dull personality and here in USA I know most of us brothers didnt view him as one of us because of his accent and all.

Lennox then talks crap about Vitali saying he was at his worst and beat Vitali at his best. FAM if this is so why didnt you take the rematch and KO him then?

Then they bring up an interesting rule in boxing if you fall out of the ring how Hopkins did in his last fight and someone helps you up back into the ring thats an automatic DQ. Did you guys know that?

Comedian Russell Peters is also there and hes homies with Lennox they knew each other since they were kids in Canada.

Great fighter but never found him to be that likeable. Seems almost unable to give anybody credit too and seems a bit of an oddball.

Also listening to him in a commentary team during a fight is painful

        You don't like Lennox Lewis.

He came across fine in the interview, I have zero idea what you are talking about.

Lennox Lewis is laid back, he has beaten every single man he has ever stepped inside the ring with etc as a competitor, I don't think he goes to bed at night with any burdens. Most great fighters when they retire are traumatized by their careers.

Yeah he came across as slightly odd/difficult. Not in a major way, seems a decent guy but saying stuff like he missed 2 years of his career because of forcing the Rahman rematch just isn't true. I followed the build-up to the first Rahman fight, there was lots of talk about the altitude so he's wrong acting like he didn't know. I guess if someone asked me Q's about my life for 2 hours, I'd get some details wrong. But he seems to do it more than most ex-fighters.

He comes across as having a chip on his shoulder. It's interesting because IMO that can help a fighter become great and drive them on, Froch had a chip on his shoulder and achieved more than expected. But when guys like that retire, they don't seem to be content with how well they did. They still come across as insecure, taking little digs at other boxers and claiming they were much better. Larry Holmes is the same, has a place in most fans top 10 HW list but still wants more credit while talking down other fighter's careers.

Exactly I view him as a great fighter, very dominant but not likable or exciting I know he got better and better as all the other top guys were declining more and more too.

Yeah the whole Hasim Rahman fight gave him the biggest chip on his shoulder. Other champs would be like look that was a point in my life where I should have been more focused I became complacent and so I took the rematch to show everyone that, but no instead he gives like dozens of excuses like a long list of petty emotional shat like even if those were all true dude just let it go, you avenged the loss stop being petty.

Then he seemed mad jealous of Tyson and how Tyson got all the love and attention and he never got anywhere near the same level of it.

He was saying how they sparred as kids and like barely gave Tyson any love and then said like by the 3rd day I got the best of him. Really dog??? So what happened on the 1st and 2nd day of sparring then why didnt you even say what happened on those first 2 days? LOL That to me says he got owned on the first 2 days.
