In a world where Pulev and Martin are top three contenders and fighting the likes of Dimitrenko, Johnson, and Vargas gets you a shot at the unified champion, yes, still a good fight.

Charr's got some wins, those Alexes...Williams I guess.

Point is, sure, duh, there are better fights in the division, but, Ruiz does not have such a stacked resume Charr wouldn't be one of his better wins and, vice versa, Ruiz would be Charr's best.

It's a fine fight. Better than Charr-Fres would have been and better than most of Andy's too.

Cool, mate, but I would prefer Ruiz fighting Ortiz, Helenius, or even Wallin -Kauffman winner.

Not automatically. Povetkin was the last WBA mando and he didn't hold any of those titles. He was the WBA international champion, I believe, but he became the mando by beating Hammer in a final eliminator.

Povetkin was WBA regular champion & defended that fake belt against Cedric Boswell, Hasim Rahman & Marco Huck before losing to Wlad. I was sure as regular champ he has 18-20 months to take is shot at the true champion. Not sure how it works now as Charr has had the regular title since 2017 & with the Oquendo situation still looming who knows?
