Dunno, probably wouldn't be standing in striking range, not moving their head, with a wide open guard just waiting to be hit though
True or false no pro-boxer would know how to defend against this?

That's like saying no MMA guy can defend against a left hook. It's a kick. You defend against it by blocking it or slipping it like any other kick or punch. If a boxer could not defend against it then neither could a UFC fighter. That guy didn't move or block the kick so he got KOed. If he did not slip or block a hard punch he would also get KOed. If there was no defense for that kick then that guy would win 100% of his fight with that kick. All kicks and punches can be defended against successfully.Comment

Which pro boxer worth his salt would move straight back with no head/body movement?
UFC fighters rarely throw jabs, don't give angles that alone is a big differenceComment

I think boxing, became boxing because it was in demand. YOU are starting to see that in the UFC now 'People complain when it is constantly a ground game fight' Who knows what is happening within society? The rise of the UFC could be a byproduct of sociology/psychology. What we do know is that boxing has stood the test of time.To be honest I think that's only because MMA boxing has yet to catch up to MMA wrestling. I have 2 points I'd like to bounce off ya quickly.
(1) Their grapplers compete at the highest levels of grappling, their boxers don't. So there is a definite level difference in your average UFC great's grappling vs what the UFC calls great boxing.
(2) Bare Knuckle boxing has kicks, in steel cleats, throws, even the Macho Man elbow drop...okay but not from the top rope though. My point is our history is a history of an open rules sport morphing into a punch only sport. I don't think many fans put much thought into that. It became all about punching because the floppers/kickers got their asses handed to them to the point where basically everyone punches and other talents like a good kick or toss are used to augment their boxing game not the other way around.
So, yeah, times could be different and maybe had the 19th century known about BJJ they would have been different, but, it just seem like their boxers are not at our level yet to me.
I did do martial arts as a kid, but boxing has a different culture to martial arts. Boxing is romantic art, where as martial arts has a deceptive culture.
So when all this Mixed Martial Arts fighters improve their boxing game, they will naturally want to cross over into boxing.Comment

It became clear to me when I took on the evolution-devolution debate that boxers are entertainers and their styles match their audiences.Comment

I could literally land a punch cleanly on you before your knee is fully raised at that distance. I could also go about avoiding that telegraphed kick 4 different ways. Me personally. Literally. Not even a pro, me.
The amount of misinformation and delusion of low key mma trolls thinking this is some gap of boxing they can exploit and flame about on here, is pathetic.

Personally, I think if that guy had any boxing training and/or experience would have parried that kick, catch/pull countered or simply slipped it. I would have parried that kick to get him off balance and cracked him with a right.
Yeah, as soon as he started to jump, and I saw that leg rising, I would have stepped in, closed the distance and cracked him.Last edited by Cypocryphy; 08-04-2020, 04:01 PM.Comment
