You can’t leave your feet to strike a boxer. You’ll get knocked the f**k out.
Also, unless there’s a 100-percent chance you’re landing the kick, you better not try to kick a boxer either. Because you’ll be off balance, pulling back in a straight line with a wide open chin if he blocks it. Which means you’ll get knocked the f**k out.
The wrestling moves are where the mma guys have the advantage.Comment

The front kick is typically the equivalent of a "jab" in kickboxing and is used to control distance. A jumping front kick is generally just ****** and you are telegraphing it from a mile away.... all you would do as soon as you see the knee come up (and telling you it is a front kick), is you block it down with your lead hand as you take a step back and pivot, then set up a counter... , either a cross, or depending on how nuts the opponent is, a roundhouse kick yourself. (my take as someone who did kick box).Comment

To be honest I think that's only because MMA boxing has yet to catch up to MMA wrestling. I have 2 points I'd like to bounce off ya quickly. You can’t leave your feet to strike a boxer. You’ll get knocked the f**k out.

(1) Their grapplers compete at the highest levels of grappling, their boxers don't. So there is a definite level difference in your average UFC great's grappling vs what the UFC calls great boxing.
(2) Bare Knuckle boxing has kicks, in steel cleats, throws, even the Macho Man elbow drop...okay but not from the top rope though. My point is our history is a history of an open rules sport morphing into a punch only sport. I don't think many fans put much thought into that. It became all about punching because the floppers/kickers got their asses handed to them to the point where basically everyone punches and other talents like a good kick or toss are used to augment their boxing game not the other way around.
So, yeah, times could be different and maybe had the 19th century known about BJJ they would have been different, but, it just seem like their boxers are not at our level yet to me.Comment
