He is definitely hugely overrated and its all to prop up Wilders resume. I think he fares well on the eye test for the most part but hes even more of a can crusher than Wilder was. His career defining moment was beating Jennings 5 ****ing years ago. And he hasnt fought any of the current top guys other than Wilder (a guy who in turn has only fought Fury, and lost) so its impossible to gauge how good he really is relative to everyone else.
People STILL rate that old fraud, LUIS ORTIZ

Yes, that is why Ortiz should fight some top 10 guys before he retires. For example, Ruiz, Povetkin. Than we would have better idea how good he is.He is definitely hugely overrated and its all to prop up Wilders resume. Would like to see it but I doubt it happens. The problem is he should have been fighting those guys over the past 5 years instead of Dave Allen
I know Ruiz would have fought him for certainComment

I don't rate him and I agree that he has been used to pad Wilder's record. Realistically though, another top 10 HW needs to fight him to really expose if he is this great fighter that fighters avoid or, what most people suspect he is, another hype-job.
Whyte v Ortiz would have been a good match up.Comment

Quoting Fury as a source ("...by fury himself") to make something more credible is pure irony.Dont disagree with the notion of the thread entirely but to say nobody knew ortiz prior to facing wilder is BS. Remember what ortiz did to Jennings was shortly after wladmir had issues with Jennings while going 12 rounds with him. Ortiz was spoken of as the bogeyman of the division by fury himself. Ortiz was known as a very talented boxer and a threat.
Fury is so full of s**t. Both him and his old man rambling on like the old drunk guy in the corner of the pub. They talk in riddles just as much as Wilder does.Comment

Agree
Fury also said Joshua beat the **** out of him but I'm sure now he'd say that he was majorly exaggerating. Fury is an emotional speaker if he's on a high and in a good mood he will praise people to the moon, if he's in a bad mood he will trash them.Comment

Ortiz wasn't ducked. He was never relevant. A career built off a mythical Cuban amateur career decades ago and one half decent win.
He can box. But a win over Ortiz brings no reward. Not credibility, not financial return. If you gain nothing for fighting him, why would you bother?
It was team Wilder that turned him into a Bogeyman.Comment

He has won every round he has ever boxed professionally, hold when Wilder knocked him down.
His best win that you’re making fun of him for was a great win. Jennings was the best American heavyweight, had just gotten a shot at klitschko and performed admirably. Ortiz beat him so badly, he made Jennings cry.
He and Fury are the two best technical boxers in the division, that’s why I think he would be Fury’s toughest fight. Styles make fights and he’s the only one who can box with Fury and keep it competitive.
I’m not sure why it’s so shocking that people think he would beat a 300 pound, 6-foot-0, Andy Ruiz. Ruiz isn’t very good.Comment
