Teo Lopez responds to the backlash

Lopez has already lost the battle with this bull****...never earned anywhere near that before and also most fighters except the very highest earners will earn less due to low numbers at the events.
Lopez is not a well known name and needs to up his name to get the bigger pursesComment

"His opponents will be getting smaller percentages..."
Says who?
You, some fanboy not even coming a thousand yards near the ring?
I have news for you.
You don't get to decide what Teofimo is worth.
Teofimo does, and he every right to suggest he should command more as an undefeated champion.
Are you a boxing fan or are you just crushing on Loma?
Not particularly a big fan of Loma really either. But I understand posters like you need to think this otherwise your simple world falls apart
Lopez doesn’t decide what he’s worth. The promoters do.
You don’t seem to be understanding my point though. The more Loma earns, the smaller percentage his opponent is going to get. The opponents aren’t going to get more just because Loma does.
25% more than Pedraza isn’t fair to you. Why?Comment

You don’t know anything about me so why try guess?

The problem with your scenario is that Lomachenko has yet to prove he is a draw.
Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez can generate millions fighting anywhere in the world. They are pretty much the only two current fighters that can say that.
Those two can definitely offer someone 25 percent (or even less) plus a split because they generate a crapload of money.
Thurman took a guarantee of 2.5 million vs Pac getting 10 million.
No one said Manny was lowballing Keith because everyone knew Thurman was going to get paid forreal from the back end, and he did.
There is no "back end" with Loma. There wouldn't be one even without the pandemic. He isn't a draw and he isn't a ppv star than can generate a "back end".
That's why your scenario of Loma's opponents making less is absurd. The smaller percentage an opponent would get ONLY MAKES SENSE if there is a star generating enough to make that smaller percentage a still decent payday.
And that ain't Lomachenko yet.Comment

If I was Teofimo, I wouldn't give a sh^t what fans are saying...
In this sport fighters have to be a bit Selfish given its history of using fighters up and leaving them to die broke once promoters can no longer make money off of them. Pay him what he wants and make the damn fight! Or else he can just take his Belt, Take a Soft Touch Voluntary Defense and wait for the IBF to order a Mandatory for him.
Who the F^CK am I or anyone on this forum to tell this man he is "Only Worth 1.2 Million" Imagine someone coming to your job and telling you "Hey You shouldn't get Time-and-a-half for working overtime this is your Job!"
If his Manager and Team are saying he can and should get more then he has every right to try and get more. ESPN really want this fight so I think he will eventually get more. Unification can't happen without him so pay the Man! This is the only big fight ESPN has at the moment so they need this damn fight to happen.Last edited by sicko; 08-02-2020, 02:47 PM.Comment

Negotiations are always ongoing. Maybe Lopez is trying to squeeze more money out. It is a big event but not having that live gate can hurt everybody financially.
I really don' care about the negotiations, I would be disappointed if that fight doesn't come off because of negotiations. I don't think that Lopez would beat Loma but would love to watch him try.Comment

???
I spend money on boxing occasionally which is OPTIONAL!
I watch boxing because it is something that entertains me because I understand WTF I'm watching. With that being said, just because I'm a fan of something does not give the right to try and tell fighters: Who They Should Fight, How They Should Fight, When They Should Fight, How Much They Should Fight For!
Getting back to Teofimo situation, well ESPN are the ones who signed Top Rank to an Exclusive Deal so if anybody that has the right to be upset it is them. However, ESPN also have the money and the Power to tell Arum to get this fight done and just give Teofimo what he wants!
So no fighters don't "WORK FOR US" at least not anymore, they now technically work for ESPN, FOX, Showtime, DAZN and whoever else is actually putting the money up to make these fights happenComment
